Not the 800 series but we do have the newer model 37" 500 series induction cooktop. We've been using it for about a month now and cannot think of a single bad thing to say about it.

That is encouraging, kmg67. I have both Bosh's new CD FD 36 inch refrigerator and their 30" 800 induction, but not yet installed.

All this slowness and waiting is nearly killing me.

I LOVE it! I've had coil, gas, and radiant previously. It's super responsive, I really like the timers (didn't think I'd use this feature), and it's very easy to clean with vinegar/water and a microfiber cloth. I've tried using newspapers under the pan for messy cooking, but would rather see where the pan is sitting on the hob. I much prefer the one touch temperature change to the press and hold on the new 500s and this was a factor in choosing the 800.
The 11 inch hob will likely be my most used once I get my new big o' braisier pan (rondeau). I cook large amounts for my family of 5 and am looking forward to browning meats at once to shorten cooking time. It's the little things ;)

My #1 like is how cool it keeps my kitchen when preparing a meal. Previously, I was red in the face and sweating when it was time to sit down. I'd have to take a break under a fan for a few minutes to even THINK about eating a hot meal, LOL!

That would definitely be a factor for me in choosing -- I have the "old" 500 and it has the direct select, I don't know why they changed that, but I'm guessing it was to differentiate more between the 500 and the 800 (although the 36" 500 still has the direct select buttons). I also love the individual timers - I use them almost every meal.

Super questions, OP! I will be watching this thread! I have yet to see an online review for the Bosch induction cooktop. That makes it very hard for me to choose between the Themador gas rangetop and the Bosch induction.

For what is is worth I have also been researching the Bosch wall ovens. There seems to be very little difference between the 500 and 800 series. The 500 has knobs vs digital technology for the 800. Funny though, many seem to prefer the 500 over the 800. Hope this helps!

I think I'm changing the oven to a ge with the same features, mainly because it's highly rated and the predecessor to the new one doesn't seem to be. Geez you can make yourself crazy over these things!
The only thing I wasn't crazy about in the Bosch fridge were the wire baskets in the freezer. I do like the overall looks though. And I hope it's reliable.

Highly rated by whom? Bosch ovens have always had a good reputation on this forum. Probably even better than GE.

When I looked at the reviews for the old 800 bosch wall oven, I didn't find too many good ones - finicky touch panel, uneven heating etc. The ge pt7050 gets pretty high marks for everything by reviewers. That said, I like the look of the bosch better.

Have you looked at Electrolux/Frigidaire?

I did look at electrolux. Love that blue interior! What I liked about it, too, was that you could clean in between the glass panels if something dripped in there. Other ovens have to be cleaned by a service person-and this is not covered under warranty. I don't even remember anymore what made me stray from that mark. Geesh. Might have to revisit it, too. Thanks. Do you like one model better than another?

There are three models: The IQ Touch is the bottom of the line, the Wave touch is in the middle, and the Icon is the top of the line. I like all of them. If I were buying for myself I would probably get the Wave touch just for its balance of price and features. The IQ and Wave touch look the same, the Icon has pro style handles and IMO looks better. When you step up to the Wave Touch or Icon you get a better control system, where the whole control panel fades out when you're not using the oven and only the functions you care about light up. First you touch the panel to wake it up, then you pick the upper or lower oven. Then all the modes light up and you pick one. Then the keypad lights up, and you punch in a temp, etc. I have it on my Elux induction range, it's pretty cool and in my opinion worth the few hundred extra. The IQ Touch has a traditional keypad where the buttons are visible all the time. The IQ touch has 1 glide rack per oven, the Wave touch has 2, and the Icon has all glide racks.

Ok, this morning I have been trying to research elux ovens. Both the wave touch 30ew55gs and the icon 30ew75gss are discontinued according to ajmadison .

The EW30EW55GS is being replaced with the EW30EW55PS. The E30EW75GSS "Designer Series" Icon has indeed been discontinued. The pro-style icon E30EW75GPS is still available and being replaced with the E30EW75PPS.

That stinks - the E30EW75GSS 30"w Icon oven was maybe the best oven out there. I never cared for those thick "pro" handles either visually or how they feel. Its still on their website but shows as discontinued on the online retailers I looked at. The EW30EW55PS is not a replacement for the "pro" Icon model; it's from the standard Electrolux line.

So the best 30" ovens now are what? I'd look first at the Bosch and Gaggenau side-hinged door ovens, the GE double-oven-in-a-single-space Profile oven (which is still current, although it hasn't been updated to the new Profile styling which makes me wonder if it will disappear soon), and the upcoming GE Monogram French-door oven. Of course, the fate of both GE ovens is in flux given the impending sale of GE's appliance division to Electrolux.

Although i've never liked drop-down doors on ovens, the Electrolux Icon's glide-out shelves, which are on all three racks in each oven and extend further than most competing brands, was a terrific oven overall in terms of quality, design, low noise, cleanability, features, and just how well it cooks. Sad to see it go.

^What's wrong with the regular, non-Icon Elux ovens? They cost a bit less than the Icon line and all you're really sacrificing is one glide rack. Actually I think you even gain a bit of oven capacity too.

I don't care for pro handles in general but I prefer the all-stainless look of the 75GPS model vs. the 75GSS.

I still think Electrolux has the best value ovens on the market currently.

Nothing's wrong with the regular Electrolux ovens - indeed they're amongst my favorites (and are available in a 27" width that the Icon is not). However, the 3rd sliding rack isn't the only difference. I really like the huge window and how the inside of the Icon door is almost edge-to-edge glass without a metal surround frame which makes for easy cleaning. I also prefer the styling - flat rather than bulging out in the middle.
