In Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete> Settings, do you have AutoComplete turned on for forms, usernames and passwords? Deleting AutoComplete data from Internet Options> Content> AutoComplete> Settings may reset AutoComplete and allow usernames, passwords and form data to be saved. You also want to make sure you do not have your browser set to automatically delete your history, cookies, temp internet files, that can affect how it is able to retain that info. using the google toolbar apparently will give you some of that functionality or using an add on like roboform there is a version of roboform free for IE you may want to read the site and see if it would work for you. When I went looking for info about Icon Restore, what I found indicated that it is old software no longer being updated by it's creator and does not work reliably on a 64-bit system (your win 7 is probably 64-bit but your XP computer was not). I had to go back to IE (which I almost never use) to discover that it does not HIGHLIGHT a spelling error in a forum post. Firefox does, which is one of several reasons why I don't want or need a toolbar. I have never needed a toolbar in a browser...they take up space unnecessarily, are confusing and not all that reliable and in general just a big pain. You would do well to learn to live without one, in my opinion. I suspect that spell check is in the toolbar...you just haven't found it yet. When you say saving the address...I think you mean saving the address of a web page in Internet Explorer... then you should enable the MENU BAR and learn how to add-delete-organize web pages in your FAVORITES MENU. Good idea owbist! salbwil, Here are instructions for Hijackthis, Click Here to download HJTInstall.exe Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop. Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop. Right click the Hijackthis Icon and Run as Adminstrator if you use Vista or Windows 7 By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Click on Install. It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop. Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis. Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" and Paste the entire contents of the log into your next post. DO NOT use the AnalyzeThis button, its findings are dangerous if misinterpreted. DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what HJT lists will be harmless or even required by your Operating System.

I am not getting these follow-up posts emailed to me even though i checked to have emails sent - so I didn't know there was more. I hope they keep supporting version 3 - since we have 5 xp computers between home and work. I do have FF4 on dd's laptop - but not quite sure how it's going for her. She said she didn't like it - and I offered to try above suggestions to make it appear more like she's familiar with. She wants me to in theory - but in reality never wants to hand over the computer to have me do it. When I have more leisure to try again, am I recalling correctly that I can have 2 firefoxes installed - one version 3, and one version 4? And I can use xmarks to sync bookmarks, etc. That way I can get used to ff4 - but go back to 3 for the times I need things to go smoothly and not tinker?
