DSL versus cable internet

I have Comcast cable internet right now, tested on www.speedtest.net at download of 15,187 kb/s & upload of 2059 kb/s ping at 96 ms with distance of less than 50 miles from the server. I pay $43 a month for this, rounded up from $42.95.

I was offered Qwest DSL internet at speed of 7 meg for $36 a month, though I don't know if that's $35-something or $36-something. I also don't know if that's the download or upload speed, or both. And I failed to ask the representative if I can use the modem & router I've been using for Comcast or if I have to buy or rent equipment from Qwest.

I'm an internet speed dummy. I have no idea which is better. Can I buy a clue? ;-)
