Anyone have BlueStar 36in. drop-in cooktop or Bosch 36in. cooktop
Comments (10)I've got the Bluestar 36" drop in and love it. When you say you're not worried about open vs sealed burners, do you mean you don't prefer one over the other? If so, consider the following questions... 1. Are you interested in even heat distirbution? 2. Are you going to do any wok cooking? 3. Do you want the heat to go into the pan rather than wasted up the sides? 4. Do you want to use your 8-12" pan, skillet, or pot on your high btu burner? These are just a few of the things that the Bluestar excels at due to their open burner design. I don't believe any other company has a pro level open burner drop-in cooktop. Only you can determine what you think you'll be happy with but I am certainly happier with my Bluestar then I ever was with the sealed burner cooktop I had before. IMHO, the question of "Bluestar vs. anyone else" *is* by definition a question of open vs sealed when it comes to cooktops. Good luck and happy cooking....See MoreBosch 36 Flexinduction Cooktop - Anyone Have a User Review
Comments (3)When I first heard of these things a few years ago, I imagined myriad mini induction coils driven by myriad generator circuits costing myriad currency units. However, the truth is out there, and at least one system is less complex than I imagined. (The photo below is reportedly a Bosch with the glass removed.) kas...See MoreWhich Bosch Induction Cooktop, 30" Benchmark or 36" 800 series
Comments (6)I'm wavering between the NIT 800 series and the NITP Benchmark series also. The only difference that I can see is that Benchmark has the flex induction for $500 more and requires a 50 amp circuit instead of 30A. Both recognize and adjust to different pot sizes ("Pot Sense") and both have shut off timers for each individual hob. Combining two hobs to form a single larger heating surface seems kinda cool. However, I have grill and griddle inserts to replace two burners as a single surface and didn't use them (other than for additional counter space) after the novelty wore off. Which was quickly. My sister and her husband used her griddle and grill inserts a lot when they had 4 children at home. After that, eventually never. If I confirm that the only difference is flex induction, then I'm going to save myself $500....See MoreInduction Cooktop (+Oven): Wolf or Bosch??
Comments (7)I have a Wolf induction cooktop (model before the bridge model) over two Wolf ovens. Love the way the induction and ovens work. As for induction, there is probably a lot of similarity in the way the hobs work between manufacturers if they have the same power, but the bells and whistles (e.g. how many timers, number of increments for each hob) may make a difference to you. However, the ovens are a completely different matter. Wolf ovens are by far the best cooking ovens I've ever had. Recipes that I've made for years turn out SO much better in the Wolf ovens (my husband keeps asking if it's a new recipe!). And Wolf backs its products up better than anyone else. Good idea to match the cooktop and ovens....See Morejquigley3
