TOTALLY Cleaning My LapTop

My question is this: How do I totally clean my laptop of the "deleted" "trashed" items?

I know how to perform disc defragment & disc cleanup. I know how to remove unwanted desktop icons and of course virus scans. I do all of this regularly but I want to know how to give my system a good cleaning....how to make it run a bit faster, smoother, etc. Things like pictures, music, unused files that I've transferred to cds. But somehow still show up from time to time. I want those pesky things gone LOL

I don't know how to stop things on the startup menu when first booting the system. I know that would help also.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks!

This utility displays the list of all applications that are loaded automatically when Windows starts up. For each application, the following information is displayed: Startup Type (Registry/Startup Folder), Command-Line String, Product Name, File Version, Company Name, Location in the Registry or file system, and more.
It allows you to easily disable or delete unwanted programs that run in your Windows startup.

Another option for you is to do the following:

1. Go to your search box on your Start menu and type in msconfig. Hit ENTER.

2. Click on the Startup tab and you will be presented with a list of programs that load at startup.

3. Uncheck the programs you do not want to load at startup. Click Apply, then click OK.

4. Restart your computer. The programs you unchecked should not load at startup.

Pllog makes a good point. Thank goodness for small mercies - no peeling, no flaking. Funny about that with the previous ovens. Rather surprised about that too as I hadn't heard anything about it. Must say, am a bit mystified by a convection oven whose fan cycles off. Why??? Not to save energy surely since the most energy-light part of the oven would be the fan! I downloaded the manual and saw that bit on page 17 that Rocs pointed out to you. A convection oven that may or may not convect. That's not averaging, I wouldn't say. Anyhow, Monogram has received good reviews and I will say that the forward/backward flow is a not half-bad idea to get good coverage. Not to sound totally condescending, but I just wanted to reiterate a few things that you probably already figured out cooking oh in the course of your life and re: convection anywhere (these are the things that I needed to learn): - pre-heat time. Never mind the beep; let it pre-heat 30-40 mins. - Selecting the correct racks and rack pairs when multi-rack baking. All specify to watch for this esp. with multi-rack cooking. - Air-flow: Take them at their word when they talk whatever their oven needs for clearances and to ensure laminar flow in their ovens. Yours says 1-1.5" clearances on either side from the walls, center the dishes on a rack, stagger them when one on top of the other (mine is v. tolerant about the last in convection mode but the clearances for airflow are definitely imp. I've found) - cooking to dish type: darks, vs. shiny vs. glass. Spills vapourizing to smoke is also surprising. Sounds like the bottom element was on and scorched the spill. I think using your drip try from here on out to help catch spills sounds like the best bet. I don't really know what to say though as it sounds a bit odd. Wouldn't have thought the bottom element could get that hot that it would char spilt pastry. No way that Monogram will come out to check the element to see if it is out of place somewhat? (Its a stretch but that's such an odd happenstance, I'd be dying to see what's under the panels ;-) ). Rhome, you'll figure out the ovens' idiosyncracies no doubt.

There are 3 groups of people that may respond. 1. People that LOVE it 2. People that HATE it 3. People that have only "heard" about it but have no expereince. We have the A&A Quick Clean Max. We love it - worth every dime! Let me first tell you why we love it. Aside from the initial brushing that is needed after start up, we have brushed our pool only a couple times in 2 years. Any debris that lands in the pool is quickly diverted to the skimmers due to the powerful venturi skimmers. These skimmers practically have what I will refer to as "toilet bowl" suction where you can literally see the floating debris move toward the skimmers and get sucked in. Any leaves that are heavy and may become waterlogged and sink and sent to the deep end by the pop ups and sucked into the main drain and into the leaf canister that resides at the equipment pad. Our system has a lifetime warranty, even on the pop up heads. Other brand pop up heads could run $80-120 each. I strongly feel that infloor is only as good as the installation. In our case, A&A Manufacturing received pool plans from our builder and they engineered the perfect placement of each head - and then the builder followed those plans to plumb the system. We do not have any dead spots like some may report. These are areas that accumulate dirt and debris... we hve been so lucky that our infloor performs flawlessly. Some infloor systems can be sold over the counter and be installed by anyone... beware of these. You want a trained, licensed professional installing your infloor using plans engineered for your specific pool otherwise it may not be worth your money. I feel like a walking advertisement for A&A, but is it only because I believe in it and it works great! Whew... that is all. Good luck!

mr. gabriel cut his first tooth just yesterday! he will be 8 months old on saturday. he's doing great! i think he's gonna be one of those babies who skips crawling all together and just starts walking. he "walks" all over the place with help from whichever grownup can bend long enough without back pain. LOL! needless to say, we take turns! he has figured out quickly all about putting one foot in front of the other. melissa is in the process of putting gates up to keep him corralled. he LOVES to be in the pool!!! he splashes like crazy and doesn't care a bit about getting his face wet. :) thanks for asking about him! he is the light of my life. i'm going up tomorrow to spend the day with him. he has this cute little fake cry when he's getting tired but fighting sleep. it cracks me up! i laugh at him and he starts laughing back. i LOVE rocking him to sleep! he is eating lots of different foods and is drinking from a little cup!!

be very careful though many of the items you really do not know what they affect so if there is any doubt do not change it.
I recommend a great free program that will help you with that and so much more it is called WinPatrol

When I want to clean my laptop totally & very well, I've been using Jubilee Kitchen Appliance wax on it. Works nicely :)

Thanks for the tip mikie. There are fingerprints all over my laptop and I've been wondering what to do about them.

ravencajun - Thanks so much for the link and the warning. I'm very cautious when it comes to removing things. If I don't know exactly what it is, I leave it alone. Better to be safe & have a slow computer than to be sorry & without my computer because of something I ignorantly have done. Thanks!

Mikie, where did you get the Jubilee Kitchen Appliance wax? They quit making it years ago (or at least you can't find it in any of the stores around here). LOL

Been under my kitchen sink for eons.
Works, seems dustless. Contains a sanitizer "Ortho-benzyl-para-chlorophenol" & Naphtha.. so its like cleaning your laptop with gasoline & bug killer.... but otherwise it seems exactly like gelcoat/fiberglass boat cleaner/polish I used to use.

I use it on my $15 wireless ms BlueTrack wireless mouse 3500 too.. which I love... It really seems, fingerprints don't show as easily. This Lenovo is super extra shiny everywhere, exceptions being the palm rests and touch pad.

Wish I could find a bottle of Jubilee. I used to use it for so many things and really miss not being able to buy it.
