Painting drip pans under stove burners
Comments (3)Sorry...no paint solution here. Just buy new ones. I love the gray "porcelain"-coated ones that came on our GE stove 12 yrs. ago. I'll let-'em soak overnight in the sink, then haul out the SOS pads. They look like new when I'm done, and the scrubbing isn't too bad. (...and this was an average oven...nothing special!) Faron...See MoreWhich Makes Best Pancakes - Electric Griddle or Griddle on Stove?
Comments (37)Just wanted to report that this thread inspired me to order an electric griddle (I've been making Ann T's oatmeal buttermilk pancakes every other weekend since January!). I used the new electric griddle yesterday, and the pancakes were much prettier and more even than the pancakes on my stovetop griddle, and it was much faster start-to finish given the size of the griddle. My gas range has the two different-sized/output burners, so the rectangular griddle pans never heat evenly (low on the high output burner is like high on the regular burner). And a regular griddle on the low output is just too small to do more than 3-4 small pancakes at once. Now I have to decide where to store the griddle in my tiny kitchen!...See More4 burner vs 5 burner stove top, looking for advice
Comments (32)Mine is a double oven electric with 5 burners. Three out of five burners’ size can be adjusted to fit pot/pan diameters. The front control glass panel is touch activation, and the incremental heat settings for each burner give the same amount of heat for the ones I turn on. I do place utensils (on a plate) at other unused burner surface, sometimes they’re on the counter space nearby. I have never used all 5 at once but since the spec does not exceed 30 Amp circuit feeding the whole unit as in my case, I think all burners should perform fine at their setting. Comments (0)Just an FYI to others. I had installed a Whirlpool, probably between 5-8 yrs ago at my mom's house. Electric coil top. It was a midrange unit (don't have the model with me), not stripped down but not real fancy. It had digital controls for the oven. One burner either quit working or was overheating several years back (can't remember) and I replaced some kind of module for that one in the control panel. Probably the infinite switch. These go for something like $40-$60 each I think. One by one over the past couple of years, the other burners developed a problem where they would just randomly take off with uncontrolled heating till the burner was red hot, regardless of the setting. If you left the room you could easily burn something or start a fire. My sister and brother now live in the house and just wanted to get something that worked. We finally replaced this lemon last week. I suppose I could have replaced all those modules but they didn't last very long considering how much the stove is used. We figured they would crap out again, if we could even find parts right now. Anyone heard of or dealt with this? I'd like to hear your story....See Moreginny20
