That's one of the basic things we try to stress to newbies...to always get the members name before considering a trade. In your case Jon, since you have chosen to show your email addy to everyone, as opposed to just members, even non GW members could email you to request a trade. There has been numerous times that folks have inadvertently traded with non-members and have been sadly disappointed. I remember the very funny pic of that plant you were seeking seeds of. It is indeed unfortunate when a user's e-mail address is hijacked. Fortunately it doesn't happen too often. I agree with Owbist's thinking that you are being spammed by an e-mail generator. To be on the safe side, if this just recently started I would recommend that you do a full scan with all your security applications to insure that you haven't contracted a bug of some type. Be sure all your definitions are current. If you do verify that it has been hijacked pretty much all you can do is create a new e-mail account and notify only those of necessity. DA

mike kaiser, A hacker can start an https session to break into a gmail account just as easily as not. I don't think it provides any security against hackers, it just prevents interception (by using encryption) when the session is on a non-secure network. For people on a secure/home network, no effect. I'm not certain and the preceding could be wrong. It's a good practice anyhow to have nothing in your email account that you wouldn't want in the hands of someone with bad intentions. That way, there's no reason to have anxiety about unauthorized access. You change your password, or in more serious cases, you set up a new email address, and move on with your life. People get so dramatic and fearful about such things, an email break-in isn't like a home invasion by a gang of 5 lawless bikers.

It IS a very strange situation, indeed. And here's some more weirdness. None of the e-mails stay on the server...I double checked and everything was downloaded, per the settings. When I first started looking for a prog to replace WLM, I started using Outlook....but the e-mails were disappearing from the Inbox. I thought it was a problem with Outlook and even posted a query here on the forum. Never solved that issue, but disliking WLM more as time went on, I gave up on Outlook and thought I'd try Thunderbird. Then the same thing started happening! I had made TB the default and set WLM to NOT check automatically for mail....BUT...when I would open WLM to look at something in a folder there, it would check for mail on Startup and all my e-mails would show up. That's when all the messages in TB would disappear. When I realized this was happening, I opened Outlook, sent some test messages there and watched as they disappeared before my eyes when I opened WLM. Do you think maybe I'm incorrect about the mail staying on the server? Wouldn't I see it there when I go online to check?
