LG french door fridge w/2 freezer drawers below

i'm considering a new fridge. right now i've got a kitchenaid s/s. i hate digging to the back to find stuff, no one else can ever find anything, things disappear in the freezer, etc. the only good thing is getting the ice & water from the door.

i like the looks of the new LG french door fridge w/the 2 freezer drawers below. does anyone have any experience w/one of those? i do need the easy access to ice & water.

thoughts, anyone?

I visited several appliance stores today and out of all the french door refrigerators I really like the 2 drawer option the best. It simply makes sense - keep the meat in the lower drawer, and open it only when needed. Keep ice cream, etc. in the top drawer and open that drawer more often. LG, GE, and Kenmore have this design. According to different salespeople: LG makes them all or they are all made in the same factory but not all by LG. The price is about a thousand higher compared to the french door with one drawer. Is it worth it? I would also like to hear from someone who owns one of these.

I am struggling with this one too. What bothers me on these models is the crisper drawers usually don't pull out very far and "wioggle" a lot side-to-side. I like the Electrolux - feels like there is much more room inside, but I am searching for a model without water in the door. At the moment I am leaning towards the KitchenAid KFCS22EV even though the bottom is one drawer. The one drawer has three trays.

We were all set on a Samsung CD FD until I read the terrible problems people have had with freezing coils. And over on Appliance Guru it seems that Sammy doesn't like to pay thier service folks and many don't work with Sammy anymore. Maybe these have all been resiolved, but I crossed them off my list. We're now looking at KA, but we're not buying anytime soon.

We have the LG with the 2 freezer drawers. I too read all the reviews but I found just as many that were happy with LG as were not, and I found that every machine had negative reviews. What sold us was the layout. We wanted crushed ice in the door and only LG use the door space for the ice maker. The others took up too much interior fridge space for their ice machine. But that doesnÂt address your question! Whether you have 1 drawer or 2, you will still need a garage freezer (or equivalent), these just do not hold very much. After that, you will find that having 2 drawers makes organization much easier. We are *very* happy with our LG FD with the 2 freezer drawers. WeÂve had it for about 2 years now.

We are considering all the same issues as this poster. Our fridge will be on the far left of the row of cabinets in a galley kitchen, so it seems that opening a single door left-hinge fridge will be more convenient than an FD. I also am very concerned about energy efficiency and durability, so I have some questions about how well the FD models will seal long term. I have no interest in throwing my $2000 fridge out in 5 years! We did find a GE model that seems to fit the bill: PDCS1NBWLSS GE Profile Energy Star 21.1 Cu. Ft. Stainless Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator - Left Hinged. We have not bought this yet but are still shopping around. We want a modest sized one like this (again to avoid wasting energy for space we rarely need), but there may be something similar in a larger size. Good hunting! Good luck!

After thinking it over for months and visiting friends who have FD and SS units, I opted for the single door refridgerator above and freezer below. I found that having to open both doors each time I was looking for something was a royal pain and the storage on each side of the door was somewhat limited, meaning you could fit some things and not others. I can fit much more on the single unit door than the French door models. It's easier to open one door at any given time than two when you have your hands full. We also kept our old unit and put it in the garage for extra storage space for beverages, and a little extra freezer space. I also saw the bottom freezer as a drawback but it's made me become more organized with the way I freeze. I went out and bought a slew of squared off containers for sauces etc that fit great & I can readily see them when I'm searching. I had my mind set on a S by S before buying for the freezer aspect alone but as with some of the other comments, I wasn't wild about the limited width of the fridge side. If I could add on to my house I would get the full size freezer and full size fridge units I've seen recently but that's not happening anytime soon!! :) Here is a link that might be useful: True side by side

Do a search for LG fridges. You may be suprised to find out that they can sometimes cause fires by the lights not turning off when you close the door. It happened to me just tonight.

I have the LG four-door fridge. I love it. The crisper drawers in the fridge pull out all the way, so there's no problem getting stuff out of the back.

I find the two freezer drawers to be very convenient and surprisingly spacious (especially after my small, craptastic Kenmore side-by-side).

FYI, mine has the ice and water on the door (although LG makes a version without this). I must admit it's very practical. That said, I prefer the clean look of a dispenser-free door. But the dispensers give kids (and husbands!) an easy way to get water and ice without having to use their grubby meathooks to paw through a bin of ice!
