did you select to save to your computer if so you need to go to where you stored it and double click on it to start the install. Tell me what exactly you had done and where you were in the download or install.
Usually it will download and finish that then you have to go to the location it downloaded to and double click to begin the install.

I was so against Firefox, it made me feel really stupid when I finally learned to use it. I like the add-ons, especially the adplus that stops moving and flashing ads and I like the themes. I am using the "glowy blue". You can check those out after you get comfortable with Firefox. Stick with it, you will be glad you did.

my fave theme is Noia 2 extreme.

So far not impressed. I use my Favorites a lot and the Bookmarks are all there, but messed up. One thing I LOVE in FF is the scroll to make things larger. There a a lot of sites/articles where that doesn't work, but they do in FF. That along makes it a keeper. Sandy

how are the bookmarks messed up? every time I have installed firefox and told it to import the faves from IE it moved them exactly as they were on IE. Can you explain?

If I had to go back to IE after using FF for so many years I think that would be the day I went totally linux LOL

Not sure exactly. I need to find out how to move the few I really need (a few email and other accts.)to the top just above all the folders instead of by alphabet. When I click organize bookmrks, the folders go off to the side. Think I just need to spend more time with it.

Plus the add-ons are confusing. Different ones seem to have the same purpose, so don't know which would work best. I'm taking it in small doses as my time and patience allow. Thanks for your time and willingness to help. I really do appreciate it. Sandy

have you tried clicking bookmarks then organize bookmarks then the move button at the top?

One thing I do for the ones I use daily, well 2 ways I do it actually, create a new folder in the organize bookmarks called All Daily so that it goes up to the top of the list and put all my daily use faves in that folder then you can simply clik on the folder and say open in tabs and it will immediately open all the ones in that folder in new tabs.

2nd is that I create a folder on the bookmarks toolbar which is directly below the navigation toolbar, in that folder I put for example, all my email locations and label that folder Mail, when I want to check my email I can either click the folder and choose open all in tabs or click the folder and select which of the email locations I want and just click that one. That really makes it convenient. I love the bookmarks toolbar. You can add to it 2 ways by either going to a website you want to add to the bar and while on that site grab the icon for it from the address bar and just drag it right down below to the bookmark bar, or in bookmarks there is a item listed for bookmarks toolbar you can add the website there.

Doing it that way for stuff you access daily makes it so much easier than having to go opening up your bookmarks area.

If you have questions about any of the add-ons just ask I might know or can find out. There are actually hundreds of add-ons I go check out the page for new ones every few months, plus you can add it try it and if you don't like it very simply just take it right off.

I got them moved! I must have been trying to do it by just drag & drop, but before it got to the top it collided with and jumped to tools. Just did it in organize mode and it worked. Never noticed the "move" button up top. Lots to learn. Way different format.

But was finally able to read a local site I needed which has been straining my eyes. No prob with FF. And even though I haven't added a spell checker its working. I may get to like it yet. Thanks, Sandy

When I first installed mine, there were a couple of sites I couldn't get into, but for some reason I don't have that problem any more. Stick with it.

What is the advantage of having Firefox as a browser over IE? and can one still have "outlook express" mail with it.
I found a tutorial on how to install Firefox from "BleepingComputer" but they were dated 2004 printed them up anyway.

firefox is a more secure browser than IE and it has so many great add-ons that you can put on it to do all kinds of things that make life easier. It is very customizable. In fact there was an article some time back by homeland security suggesting people start using firefox over IE because of some of the security issues, granted there have been patches and IE is somewhat better than it was but firefox in my opinion is so much better. Yes you can certainly still use outlook express that is an email client and really has nothing to do with your browser and it is not like you get rid of IE you still have it there you just add firefox to the pc. You can switch between the 2 and have both up and running at the same time there is no problem having both. IF you want to use firefox you just click the firefox icon, if you want to use IE click the IE icon simple as that.
When you go through the install of firefox it will ask you if you want to move your favorites,settings and such from IE say yes and it will add all of your stuff to firefox so you lose nothing, it will now be on both. But be aware that it also will ask if you want to add google toolbar and possibly some other stuff but you have the option to check or uncheck any of those, I do not get any of the added stuff, I can always add what I want later. IT will ask if you want to make firefox the default browser you do not have to make it the default you can leave IE the default if you prefer that is fine and will not affect how it works.

If this is the tutorial then yes this is a good one, a few things may look a little different but basically still good.
