I'm waiting for cherry season, so I can experiment with that cherry steak sauce. It's yummy and I love the label. For ingredients it just says "veal stock made with roasted veal bones, onions, carrots, celery, tomato paste, parsley stems, bay leaves" then lists red wine, dried cherries, onions, brown sugar, butter, salt canola oil and black pepper. No anonymous "spices" or "flavorings".

I'm starting with fresh cherries, though, and see how that goes. No vinegar, just red wine, so I'd have to pressure can it, since it starts with a meat broth. So, I have that much figured out, LOL.

Sounds like you and DH are doing great. Did your DH loose all sight in one eye?

I'm glad you are doing good after your accident. I imagine it has been a long 8 months.

Great news Brenda. If the docs give you the option on staying on the coumadin a little longer, go for it. If you've had blood clots, you may now be at a higher risk for further clots. Ask your doc about it. The rat poison is not so bad, as far as drugs go, LOL. I hope you feel up to a regular cardio exercise regimen soon - walking is best. That will help your whole body and especially the circulatory system.

Trixie, must be a TX thing and yes DH did loose total sight in one eye, but the surgery restored it to better than ever.

Gina, thanks so much for the advice because I know you have researched it alot and btdt. Pt is helping me alot and outlining a program outside of pt and actually for the first time in my life I am excited about it. As far as the coumadin, one doctor insisted I stay on coumadin, but 2 other doctors (hematologist and internist) said I could get off since my recent lupus anticoagulant test came back negative and 3 other similar tests. The reason to want to get off both by me and the 2 drs was so I could take medicines I could not otherwise take being on the coumadin as I was having to take too many steriods.

I'm so glad to hear the good news!! So.... ARE you ok to drink Margs now? I KNOW that you were wanting to!

Brenda, those tests just rule out underlying genetic problems that can make you at risk for blood clots. But there is no test to see if you are now more susceptible to blood clots because of having a previous clot. If you like, email me the list of drugs you can't take on Coumadin - I will check with my clinic to see if there are any options.

I'm glad you are excited about your PT, and I hope you and Karen can get together!

Glad things are doing better for you and your husband. It was so wonderful meeting you when you were here that I hope we can meet again sometime soon. Kevin and I won't be back in Texas until Christmas, however.

My mother had cataracts and surgery restored her eyesight to better than before, but my father has macular degeneration, and there is no cure for that, other than an eye transplant, I suppose.

I hope things continue to improve for you and yours!

Lars, it was great meeting you and Kevin, also. The cd has helped me heal, I am sure...it is stress-relief and beautiful. If you have time Christmas, maybe we could meet here or Austin. DH had cataract surgery 4 years ago and some membranes had grown completely over the lens, so that resulted in the vision loss.

When my Mom was taken of Coumadin (for what reason I don't remember, but it had something to do with her lung cancer) they had her take an aspirin a day instead. That might be something to ask your doctor about.
