The Toto Soft-Close seat isn't automatic. You have to give it a push, then it will slowly close without slamming. The Soft-Close seat comes as a standard feature on many of the Toto toilet models, and can be purchased separately for installation on non-Toto toilets. Toto also makes an automated toilet called "Neorest" It raises the lid automatically as you walk toward the toilet, has a built in Washlet, heated seat, a unique flushing system, and the lid automatically closes and flushes when you rise. We're in the midst of a bathroom renovation, and my cotton white Toto toilet, sans seat, is here waiting to be installed. I have another Toto toilet and hate the seat, so I did not order a seat with this one, intending to buy one when the reno is complete (if it ever is!) I hadn't realized that I would have trouble matching the color. I'll look at the Pressalit.

Sorry about that -- I didn' say who I purchased it from!! I bought them from homeclick.com Maybe a few people have had issues, but I checked them out I went for it. Call me crazy, but when I have three or four major things that cost lots of money, I do think it's worth some time to research online for the best deal. (Best deal means good price and good company -- needs to be a combo) My husband calls me the "Queen of Research" b/c I have saved thousands -- and I do mean thousands from a few phone calls and some hours online. I don't think that is too much to ask. Heck, a good search engine does the work for you. All the variables can make the toilet a little tougher to find what you want in stock and with a discount, but it can happen. Buying locally just wasn't an option, and I have NO problems buying online.

cynic writes: 1.6 gal. is fine, No advantage to me to go less than that. Dual flush is not anything special to me either. Was looking at Vespin, Carlyle, Carolina and UltraMax. UltraMax seems to be the only one of these that have ADA height though unless I'm misreading something. We have a Vespin II, installed eight months ago. It is ADA height, skirted, and it uses 1.28 gallons per flush; it flushes completely time after time. It is a good solution for our needs. But it is a two-piece. If you want a stylish one-piece that has every technological innovation that any Toto has, look at the Inax Dover.
