I think thats about as good as you should expect. I used to work in a showroom with a Diva induction cooktop and would put a decent size pot of water on to demonstrate for customers and it didn't boil in 90 seconds, probably about the same time you're getting. You might want to check your pots.They should not be rounded or uneven on the bottom and they should not extend beyond the edge of the element you're cooking on.

It also takes longer to boil water in a heavy pot than a thin one because it takes time to heat the pot.

I have been using my new Wolf 30" induction cooktop for two months.
I tested 2 cups water on small front burner- took 2 min 40 sec using a "Greenpan" from Crate and Barrel, which is a heavy pan. So, nothing wrong with your Wolf cooktop (like not having enough power to the cooktop- I know mine was wired correctly). I had a gas cooktop previously, and compared to that the Wolf induction cooktop seems blazingly fast when I put on a pot of water for pasta. If you want the fastest speed, have only one burner turned on at time.

CAChris, I am totally surprised to hear your comments comparing your gas cooktop to the Wolf Induction! I've never cooked with gas and have no point of reference there. I always thought gas was super speedy. Prior to our move last summer, I had a Viking Induction cooktop for 4 years. Comparing its performance to the Wolf Induction is what made me think there may be a problem with my new Wolf cooktop. I was expecting it to be comparable to Viking. But Viking Induction blows Wolf away--however, it's not nearly as pretty! I suppose I will get used to the Wolf in time.

There are a lot of positives about the Wolf--I do like the textured glass top which is MUCH EASIER to keep clean than any other glass top cooktop I've ever used. And I think the timer is quite handy. I have not observed any hot spots on the Wolf and it appears to cook very evenly. It holds a constant simmer beautifully.

Mojavean and I had a water boiling contest, My 10" burner on my Elux Icon cooktop and he with his Bluestar Stove.
The Bluestar would have hotter burner than a Wolf.

The Elux beat the Bluestar. We used 8 cups of water and it took the elux about 4 and a half minutes to bring 8 cups to a brisk boil using Emeril-ware Clad Shallow pan.

Naturally times would be faster for 2 or 4 cups of water.

Anyway plenty fast for me (and I like fast things)!!!!

Elux induction range took me ~3 minutes to boil 4 cups from cold. Comparable gas took 4'43". My old electric took ~8 minutes!

If I recall correctly the Bluestar Stove in the above mentioned contest was an RCS with an 18k btu power burner not an RNB most common among GWers with the 22k btu burner.

Aside from the matter of different conditions and different pots.

Dodge59 and Co-Co, Thank you for running your timed tests. I decided to try 8 cups of cold water in my 4 qt. Emeril-ware sauce pot and my results were great-- full brisk boil in just UNDER 4 minutes! It was 3 minutes and 53 seconds to be exact.

Perhaps cookware does make a difference. I seem to get better performance when using my Emeril-ware cookware than some of the others.

Actually, the single an double quote notation for minute and second is valid. It comes from the geographic coordinate use of minutes and seconds however. It is often used as a shorthand for time references.

Plus I'm Canadian, what are feet and inches? ;)

FWIW, I just timed 4 cups of filtered water (i.e., cool, not cold) placed in a 3 quart heavy cold Le Creuset saucepan (the 2-quart one is in use right now) and placed on a Waring portable single induction burner on setting 10 (highest). It took 2 minutes 30 seconds to bring to boil.
