Bosch slide-in oven: Fan noise

My Bosch slide-in oven fan is loud. It runs at the same noise level whether convection is selected or not. The fan also also continues to run for a considerable time after the oven is turned off. Is this normal? I have an open floor plan and bought the higher priced Bosch dishwasher solely to cut a couple of decibels. An oven that is louder than the dishwasher? You've got to be kidding - somebody please tell me that my oven is not functioning as the manufacturer intended.

Normal for modern ovens.

The dang things have so many electronics now that they have to be cooled for a good long time. I leave mine (not a Bosch) open after cooking to dissipate the heat faster and turn off sooner and I'll be replacing it with an electronics-free range.

Some brands are apparently less noisy that others and I don't know about Bosch in particular.

Sorry to tell you that's normal for that range. The fan is supposed to run for an extended period of time according to the instructions. If the fan wasn't running that would be a problem.

I don't have the Bosch any longer. I now have a Kenmore Elite(made by Frigidaire) which is almost silent.

I barely notice the cooling fan on my Bosch oven. I had read here of concerns with noisy fans and had been concerned, but I'm very pleased with how the Bosch turned out.

We're building a new house and the placement of the appliances is pretty much fixed at this point. We didn't have any idea of how tricky this would be. Speed oven, Steam oven plus 30" convection oven and induction cooktop. Where to put them all? And how to decide which manufacturer so that they all match, without breaking the bank? We're thinking that the 30" Convection oven will be the one we use least. The Miele Steam seems better than the Bosch, but that means we have to make everything Miele to match. Miele 30 " convection is a lot more expensive than the Bosch. And how many of you have a Speed oven and what do you use it for? Currently, we use a Microwave to heat a bowl of soup, or warm up coffee, or reheat leftovers. We roast a lot of chicken and use a Convection oven..same with fish. We're a retired couple so it's mostly the 2 of us, and wonder how often we'll have a crowd and use everything at once. Plus, we're moving to FL and will have a good grill with a rotisserie, so will have that option too. Also wondering about a plain Microwave +Combi Steam+ Convection set up. But we're thinking that for resale value, we should have a Speed Oven. Can any of you tell me which appliances you use the most and do you have any experience with Bosch cooking appliances? And has anyone out there ever installed a wall oven under a cooktop, rather than buying a slide in or built in stove?

I personally have never used the self clean feature. I'm too worried about the heat from that messing up the electronics (that's what people thought several years ago when I got mine; not sure if opinions have changed). I generally use some kind of pan to catch drips, so only rarely have things drip onto the oven floor, and for things like roasted chicken that may spatter grease all over, it seems to just bake off over the next times I'm using my oven. So, I can't tell you how the self clean works, but I can tell you that I haven't really ever felt the need for it, either.

Hi, Have a very new Bosch 500 double oven and noticed that the fan on the upper oven makes a noise when it is warming up, kind of a clicking noise. I called Bosch and the service guy came out and replaced the fan and its doing the same thing. He said its normal, but I have a hard time believing that. Does anyone else have this Bosch double oven and have the noise when warming up the upper oven? Thanks

I did have a problem with the convection fan on my Kenmore Elite range. It was making a very noisy tinny sound. It only did it on the convection bake cycle. The service man came and tightened up a screw. It was a normal quiet sound for awhile and then became quite noisy agian. if you have a chance to hear someone elses fan, take the oportunity, but do not rule out that it may be something that needs looking after.

That's normal operation for a new electric oven. Mine is a Bosch and yes, it makes more noise than my FP dishwasher. I don't know if it's noisier than other ovens. Like fori, I leave the door open so it cools faster and the fan goes off sooner.

My Bosch slide in makes the same noise - its designed that way and many slide ins also are the same. It was annoying at first.
