I don't have your unit. I have a KA with gas on glass in white. I have a couple of thoughts. It is generally easy to clean. However since you are comparing it with stainless, I assume you mean a similar flat top burner layout that should also be easy to clean. It has held up ok for 5 years. I have used a heavy canner on the large burner. The reflected high heat from this burner has caused some discoloration. I can imagine that this might not happen with stainless, but I have never had stainless. Since it looks so clean, the small ring of crud that forms at the burner/surface interface is obvious enough to require occasional removal of burner heads. This requires a torex head screwdriver for the KA. And speaking of KA/Whirlpool, the morons didn't use stainless screws and I am going to have to drill one pair out because they are rusted on. I can imagine a breakage scenario. I store cast iron griddles above my double wall ovens and I managed to drop one 3 feet onto my open oven door. Fortunately it only put a nice dent into the inner door frame rather than smashing through the glass window. My burners are on an island so I shouldn't be able to duplicate that screw up over the cook top. A range with a hood would probably be similarly protected from that maneuver.

Just measured and it's pretty much 21" exactly on the sides. It bows only in the front and is straight on the back. BTW, LOVE the cooktop! Very powerful and very good looking. No complaints at all! Good luck and I hope this one works out for you!

I have the same burner arrangement in a GE profile slide in. It's terrible. The burner ring on the high powered burners is so large, it burns food on the SIDES of the pan (not the bottom) because the flame will climb the outside of all but a huge 14" pan. With a huge pan, the center will be cool in comparison to the outer edges because it receives no flame at all. You could order a pizza and have it delivered by the time it heated a pot of water to boiling. The KA burner design looks very similar. If you want sealed burners, look at ones where the higher powered burners (above 11k) are done with double or triple flame rings. I am not sure why you are getting zero response to your question. I too am having a difficult time deciding between two brands. My request for advice wasn't answered either. So without the benefit of others sharing their experience the best way to decide is probably side by side comparison. List the pros and cons of each as you see them and perhaps one will stand out more than the other. I don't have gas but I do have a GE convection wall oven and a GE cooktop. The cooktop has had to have the elements replaced three times in the 8 years I have owned it. The convection oven has had fan issues from the get go. First the fan in the oven started sounding loud and was fixed. Now it has noise coming from an internal fan and you'd think a plane was landing in the kitchen. So, Jenn Air, with it's extra features may be worth the extra expense if it holds up better than the GE. I'd check their repair history. Good luck with your remodel and enjoy your new kitchen!
