Transplant looking pretty bad...
Comments (31)One: Bravo! is truly impressive that you were able to move that colossal rose, very impressive. It gives me hope for the many much smaller moves I hope to make in he near future. The unique shape of the rose combined with the unique planter really give a coordinated look that was just the perfect accident, Two: I think I must be alone in this, but I just laughed hysterically at the photo Jim posted of the roses sitting under that rainbow umbrella. Don't get me wrong, that is an amazingly practical use of a beach umbrella, it makes so much sense, but at first glance it just looks like those roses are just having a nice little vacation on the beach. SO cute, it makes me want to move a rose bush just to do that. Jessica....See MoreVintage appliances...or new that looks vintage?
Comments (18)We have had our Big Chill fridge for almost a year. It is awesome, and, yes, it is energy star rated because it is a Whirlpool model re-skinned. It was pricey, but we were able to use our state energy star rebate for 15% on it, so that's about as good of a deal as we're going to get. I could never find a blue one on CL or ebay. We ordered it from our in-state dealer to get the rebate, and it drop-shipped from Big Chill in 2-3 weeks. I agree with P, the real vintage fridges are small, expensive to refurbish because of hazardous chemicals, and most require manual defrosting. Ours is about 21-22 cu ft, so if you need a bigger fridge, this clearly won't work for you unless you have space for another fridge. Old former fridge was only 18 cu ft, so this size works for us. We don't have kids. The range is a Samsung induction. I really wanted a range with modern features, though a vintage stove would be awesome. However, we'd have to run a gas line to install one. I don't care for most vintage electric ranges. We could get the DW panel from Big Chill, but we like having the fridge as the focal point....See MoreRefrigerator sticks out too much?
Comments (6)my $0.02 - it's one thing to have a fridge that sticks out, it's another thing to BUY a new fridge, knowing it sticks out and knowing it's bothered you for "years". Pictures and dimensions would help, but I really think you'd prefer an option that doesn't stick out as much as 7-9 inches. You mentioned that if you need more freezer space (with one of the options), you could always get a freezer for the garage. How much would that cost? I would figure out what the true difference is between counter depth and standard depth, including the additional purchases you're willing to make, and see if it really is as much as you think. I hate that counter depth fridges are so much more expensive, but it really does make for a nice look when the fridge is all tucked in...See MoreRust Vintage Iron Gate and Large Vintage WIndow
Comments (11)Hi Winker! I just want to say that I know how you feel when you don't get a response to a post. So many times I feel I leave a post that closes the entire thread! Hope I don't your thread, tho! Another thing: It's hard to picture where the window and iron gate will go because I've never been to your home and can't picture the perfect place. Sometimes posting a photo of either a problem area or the newly acquired item goes a long way. Being on the Garden Web forum I wonder if you are a gardener? I hung out on that side so long it was only recently that I even browsed the home forums. Many gardeners love the iron gates to support their climbing plants like morning glories, sweet peas, cucumbers or pumpkins....anything viney. I'd love to see your window. I do have a few panels of leaded glass that we removed from my in-laws built in buffet when they were remodeling. They sat in my garage for about 10 years before I saw someone else mount them with chain and hang them on the wall. I'm attaching a link to a photo album to show you. HTH. Here is a link that might be useful: window idea...See Morejwvideo
