Well, I said I wasn't a fashion expert! Maybe it's the retro look. It's nice to know Susan's attending family events. What I'd read hadn't mentioned them and I wondered how close they were.

I heard her interviewed on the morning news shows today. She is no dumbie. Hopefully, she will be smart enough not to be taken in by shady characters!

Thanks for the link Sharon! I'm still amazed with her voice and I don't listen to this type of music all that much. I think I'll be buying her first CD for sure. Like DT mentioned, I think she is smarter than most give her credit for. Steet smarts for sure.

This is the first I've heard her sing, and her voice is very good, but I can't help but think of Julie London when I hear that song. As a teenage boy, I would buy Julie London albums just for the cover pictures, but I really did like her singing as well, and her performance in The Girl Can't Help It is permanently etched in my mind. I think Susan might have done better to pick a different song. She says she is willing to get a makeover for British TV, and I hope she comes out looking more like Peggy Lee and less like Monty Python or Kate Smith. If she only did her eyebrows, it would help quite a bit. She needs to shed the Roseanne Barr look, unless she wants to be a comedienne. I love Roseanne, but not as a singer, and Kate Smith did not sing torch songs, AFAIK. Younger viewers may not have the Julie London association with that song that I have, and so they may view the performance differently.

Perhaps she will be able to follow in the footsteps of Cesária Ãvora, who also never had a glamorous makeover. I guess you can tell I love makeovers!

I saw a picture yesterday of Susan's makeover. The newscaster said "dramatic makeover" but you couldn't tell much from the afar still. She had slacks, leather coat, and haircut but that was about all that was noticeable.

Cathy she had her hair cut a little, dyed brown and her eyebrows plucked. People were horrified because she now looks so ordinary. The talent group want to keep her as is because that's what endeared her to the public. They feared a 'makeover' would spoil the image.

I'm glad she got a little done. She looks normal. It'd be really difficult to begin a brand new career after a lifetime of being the odd duck AND have the whole world commenting on the fact that you're ugly.

I think her voice and story are more than enough to sell plenty of records/itunes.

I like the improvements she did, they look pretty natural and allow her to have a personality of her own.

As for her voice and career, I guess it will depend on how she is marketed/guided ; will they have songwriters create an album for her or will she sing popular well loved songs to showcase her voice ?

My guess is that they'll capitalize on her present success for quick recognition ; time will tell for the rest.

I think her make-over is perfect. Not overdone, just natural.

I didn't get to see her on the morning news show. Sure hope she's no dummie because this would be the perfect time for a brother or sister who was never willing to help with her ailing mother to step in and "manage" her.

Her new look makes her look like Rosie O'Donnell IMO. I still have to say that I really do not like her voice, but it's just not my own personal taste. I also do not like the new guy on BGT - he's just as boring as she is. I never watch AI because I hate most of the songs they sing and the way they sing them. It's just generally not peppy enough for me. I would like it much better if they did Ska once in a while. I only liked ballads when I was an emotional teenager. Now I prefer much more upbeat music, but I still do like Julie London and Cesária Ãvora, but not much in the way of blues or ballads. I also don't like extremely emotional music, possibly because I overdosed on opera as a small child. It was rather traumatic.
