Help! Range hood roof cap?

We have a 600 cam range hood that is starting to be installed. The contractor picked up a roof cap, but it's one of those nutone low profile ones. (My contractor sucks, long story but I question everything he touches) I don't think it's good for this application. A small amount of grease will escape out through the vent and this would blow toward the shingles I would think, and could easily be blocked by snow in the winter.

Or is this the correct style?

It's a 5/12 pitch roof. 600cfm peninsula, 8" pipe mostly straight up.

Thank you for your time.
