I am extremely tempted I may have to own it, waiting on reviews. I hate it has no sd card slot for added storage, they are pushing their cloud storage but if you are not around wifi that limits your ability to access your stored stuff.
I like the great screen resolution and the quad core processor should be speedy.
It will give the kindle fire a hard battle, actually it's a slam dunk since the price point is the same.

Am definitely anxiously awaiting information about it, want to see what the forum folks have to say when they get hold of it.

By the way the new 10inch Vizio will be coming out soon, it looks good too, but weight could be a factor.

I'm tempted by the Nexus 7 also, but the lack of additional storage might be a killer for me. And to think that for an additional 16 gigs of storage the cost is $50 more when SD storage is so cheap! Still, it's very tempting. It's good looking, too!

I was reading that there could be a way to get around the storage issue. It said that you can put your data, books, video, etc on a usb flash drive, use a usb to mini usb to connect to the nexus and access it.
It will be interesting to see what the android forum guys do with it.

Amazing how many people are pre ordering it.
I read that at this price point google is not making any profit, but are depending on sale of apps from the store and use of other google pay features. Plus I think they were really wanting to give amazon a punch they would feel.

If you go to Amazon there are over 18,000 reviews or so it says ... biggest thing that strikes me is that there is no password protection and this unit is shipped already to connect from amazon ...so if someone steals it .. your SOL

Maybe you can get around that using an app I know many of the good antivirus programs have password protections and the ability to disable and locate a lost device. I know every android device I have does have the ability to lock the screen with a password so you can put it down and no one can open it with out the password, unless they removed that feature from the version of android they use.
I do know that amazon put their own Silk browser on it and made a big mistake in not allowing you to install a different browser since Silk is not very good. I want the option to pick and choose what I want to use on something I paid for.

OH I just read what you meant, that the fire comes pre resisted from amazon with your account open so anyone that even intercepted it in shipping can go nuts buying up everything they want on amazon and it is charged to your account. Well that is just plain stupid on amazons part and looks like they will be dealing with a lot of fraud cases.

Since I don't own one I did not know that. Several members of my family have various kindle versions, I will have to warn them to check on that. I guess once you get it you have the ability to sign out of your amazon account??? So they would need the user name and password but likely most people have it remember that info LOL

Makes my mouth water, but I am not pre-ordering. My wi-fi at home is very limited, so I'm waiting until I am able to have unlimited broadband and not dependent on 3G cellular service with its restrictions on usage. Now if our house would just stay sold so I can make my planned move.

I hear you, I am sure considering it, but I too will not pre order I want to let the early birds get all the kinks out of it. After the first updates for it then maybe.

That doesn't seem to stop people. I've seen plenty of "user" reviews, especially of popular products, well before the release date. Usually they just mimic whatever "professional" reviews exist, although I love the ones that complain about the lack of a particular feature. "The Nexus 7 doesn't have a floppy drive! What was Google thinking?" If a floppy drive is important to you, why would you buy the product and then complain about the lack of a floppy drive? Kind of like buying a car without air conditioning and then complaining you have to roll down the windows in the summer. ;-)

I didn't know that and it does seem a bit weird. I have to imagine that whatever the cost associated with stolen Kindles being less than whatever the cost Amazon assigns to having customers enter their own UID and password.

I'm not a regular here (except when I'm in trouble), but I can raise my hand to say I pre-ordered the Nexus 7. I'm not even close to being knowledgeable about tablets (a tablet virgin), so my opinion won't count for much. But I'm excited!

I bought a Kindle Fire online for my girlfriend as a xmas present. I didn't know my account information would be preloaded when she got it, it was shipped to her house. Luckily I was there when she opened the box and we began to play with it. We called Amazon and the problem was easily fixed. I can see this could be a big problem if someone buys one as a gift for someone. I recall the Amazon tech saying when I ordered it there was a box I was supposed to check to indicate it was a gift. She said that would have made it so the gift would have to be registered by the person who got it.

I have Nexus envy no more...I bought one today!

Checked the inventory online at my local Staples early this AM and they showed it "in stock". I told myself it was probably an inventory error but when I arrived, sure enough, the Nexus was available.

It's so responsive and quick compared to my first Android tablet. Even though I learned a lot about Android with the first tablet (Froyo), I'm having to go to the Guide frequently to find out how it works in Jelly Bean. No regrets so far.

I read that Google said that usb flash drive trick will not work, only the usb keyboard and mouse can be used. Bummer.
I also read that Asus is coming out with their own version of nexus and it will have the Sd card slot and some other things the Google version didn't. I guess they had to save some of the good stuff for their own model.
I may be really tempted by it but I bet the cost will be much higher.

Staples only had the 16 GB in stock so that's what I bought.

I considered waiting for the next version, but then there always seems to be a new improved model just around the corner in the tech world.

I happened upon some YouTube videos about using the Nexus and found them very helpful. This little doodad is amazing!
