I see the 2nd and 3rd pics, but not the first....

I see all the pictures in all the posts.
What are you using as addons on your browser I would try turning off all addons to see if maybe they are the cause. Then enable one at a time.

Now this is getting weird! I could only see the 2nd and 3rd pics from my home wifi, but now on my office wifi (another location/router), I see all 3 in chuggerguy's post! Is there a clue there?

No, in your case shaxhome, I suspect my firewall was messing up. I flushed the rules a little while ago, you should be able to load the first image from home too. If not, I'm lost. I get lost easily though. :)

Hmmm. That rather defeats the purpose of the exercise. That used to be the only way to post pics here. The pictures you are not seeing in threads are posted by using the new "upload" feature below...

Save a pic to your desktop, any pic. Then click on the "image file to upload" browse button, find that pic saved on your desktop and add that to a post.

So it's just images uploaded with the new image upload tool? Did you try uploading an image with it?

Have you tried a different browser to make sure you can see all images in it?

Do you have a guest account or another Windows account you can switch to and try with a fresh(or at least different) Firefox profile?

I did try a test with the new GW picture upload and there was no picture in the preview. I will look at your link.

Doesn't seem fair that you can upload an image and everyone can see it except you does it? ;)

has to be something in her settings, I have not seen anyone else on any of the forums I am on that is having this issue. Either something is blocking them or an addon or some settings some where.

since you are using firefox try starting firefox in it's safe mode, and see if that makes a difference.

Okay, I am now on IE and I can see all of the above pictures even my own. This tells me it is something in the settings on my Firefox.

Agreed it's a setting. Starting in "Safe Mode" should tell you for sure.

The only way I can duplicate the problem is to set an adblock filter like this one:

but you're not adblocking. When you clicked on "Tool-addons" did you click the "Extension" tab on the left? The disabled items you listed above sound like "Plugins" instead of "Extensions".

Actually, the colon at the start of the filter is a vertical bar. Gardenweb changed it when I posted it.

With that filter enabled, I see the images you see, don't see the images you don't see. May be just a coincidence I suppose.

I am in safe mode on FFox and it makes no difference. Everything is disabled. I am frustrated, I sent an email question yesterday AM and again this afternoon to GW with no response.

If safe mode doesn't help, resetting may not either but I'd still try it. If that didn't work I'd probably uninstall Firefox and reinstall it.

In the meantime, if I was getting too frustrated, I'd probably try to step away from it for a day or two. Use IE or Chrome(or Iron) if I had too. Tackle the Firefox problem fresh in a day or two. That's just me though.

I've been able to view all of the photos until yesterday. Someone on another forum posted a pic (I'm guessing through the new GW upload feature) and I can't view it using Firefox. Someone suggested it was because Adblock Plus was blocking it. When I checked using Safari I could see the pic.

Can you disable it long enough to find out?

If you have the AdblockPlus icon you should be able to center-click it to disable. If not, it's under tools...

I don't know why.

If you select "Open blockable items" you can probably figure out which filter is the culprit. It should be an item in red toward the top of the list. You can right-click it and disable it.

I sometimes get carried away and block more than I want and have to disable. Especially when using the element helper.

I usually do "Easylist" but I think it defaulted to "Fanboy" the last time I installed it. I haven't had any problems... yet. :)

Good question. Mind pointing out the thread and which pics? I doubt I can see anything different about them than the others in the same thread but... I'm curious.

Probably the best clue would come from determining exactly which filter is catching them.

Using "Open blockable items" and finding the responsible filter I mean.

I don't really know. I see both images with AdblockPlus enabled. I even tried adding both Easylist and Fanboy subscriptions both at the same time and I still see them.

Maybe sometime back you saw an image/ad somewhere in the forum and blocked it? For instance, if I choose to block one of those cat pictures, the default filter is ths.gardenweb.com/forums/decor/* which would block not just the one image but all images in that forum.

If you didn't manually block anything and it's not in a filter subscription(wouldn't think so), I don't have any idea.

I'm clueless. If I did something to block images it should be blocking all GW-uploaded photos, right? Am curious about how many other people are having similar issues.

I think if you did something to block images it would be blocking all GW-uploaded photos in "at least" one of GW's forums. If I had have blocked that cat photo and let adblockplus choose the filter for me, all photos in the "decor" forum would have vanished.

I don't know how many but I suppose when you run into one you'll be able to tell them how to fix it. :)

The problem persists, the only thing I haven't done yet is uninstall Firefox and reinstall. I just don't see some of the pictures unless I open IE then all are visible. I am not using adblock so nothing is blocked on my computer.

I'm lost. If you were adblocking I would understand but as it is I don't have an answer. Maybe someone else will see something I'm missing?

Eandhl, can you see the photo you uploaded on the Cooking forum thread? I was able to see it along with all the others. My problem started yesterday on the Home Decorating forum.

I really appreciate that some of you are still looking for the answer. I still haven't uninstalled/re-installed FF. What happens to all my bookmarks? The last post I check everything in chuggerguy's last post and no issue there. Thanks again.

If you're worried about losing your bookmarks, you could use the Firefox addon Xmarks Sync. Create an account and upload your bookmarks to their server. Then when you reinstall Firefox, add Xmarks Sync again, log into your preexisting account and download your bookmarks.

I've only used it a time or two so I'm no expert with it but it seems easy enough.

I downloaded Xmarks Sync. I can not get a "Recovery Key". It says I am logged in but can go no further without a recovery key! I can't uninstall it without full log in with key!

Truthfully, I never had it ask me for a "Recovery Key" so don't know.

I believe I choose the option pictured in order to upload my bookmarks to the server. Then on the new Firefox I selected "Keep data on the server; discard data on this computer" to retrieve the bookmarks I had stored on their server.

Sorry, I don't know about the "Recovery Key". I have a feeling it has to do with having various "profiles" but I didn't do that so was never asked to enter one.

Well I gave up on IE just to see pictures. My antivirus was picking up a lot of junk stuff. I am now seeing a thread in the decorating forum with others having the same problem. It appears to be just the photos loaded through GW. I do appreciate the help that was offered.

Did a google search for this problem and landed here. Was really hoping there was a resolution. I've already done everything suggested here except uninstall/reinstall FF. Don't need to see the photos that bad :o I've discovered that sooner or later, most problems of this nature will be fixed by either browser updates or the website will tweak something :)
