Vicky & others, I too have problems now & then. There is no rhyme or reason, apparently. Whenever I contact Tamara, I get the feeling she thinks I'm an idiot beause of course the problem doesn't happen for her - & it does go away the next day...only to reappear a week or so later. I actually had a different problem just last night -- a survey box kept popping up every single time I moved from one thread to another - even when I repeatedly clicked on 'no thanks'. Of course, it didn't happen for Tamara, & I've only been here today, so we'll see. I suspect it won't happen today -- simply the law of averages. Or is that Murphy's Law?? I forget! LOL I do get disgusted, & if it weren't for the friendships formed here, I would probably leave. It seems with the number of us that have problems things will get better - we can hope! :)

LOL, Dcarch. My old friend Renee who used to post on the Cooking Forum, owned a coffee shop. She called it "Charbucks" and said they roasted their coffee too darkly so they could cover the fact that they were using inferior beans. Of course, she also called Maxwell House "floor sweepings". (grin) I make my coffee just like Sleevendog, starting with green beans and roasting them myself, grinding right before I make the coffee, using filtered water heated in my electric kettle and poured over grounds in the Chemex. The one thing that jumped out at me too was that the OP guessed at the proportions of coffee to water. I "played" with the Chemex for a week or so before I found just the right ratio to suit me. Find the ratio that suits you and use that amount every time, and your coffee will be consistent. And, incidentally, I drink both coffee and tea, depending on my mood. I like iced tea in the summer, but not iced coffee. I like both hot tea and hot coffee when it's cooler outside, and I've been known to drink a mocha occasionally too. I guess I just like it all... I think Anglo explained very well why she felt customer service failed in a couple of instances here. I agree that when the Weds delivery didn't happen, then she should not have had to cancel her other appts, affecting her hairdresser's and dog groomer's schedules. They don't get paid if someone cancels at the last minute, since it's too short notice to book someone else. Someone asked why it would be a loss, since the appt would be rescheduled, wouldn't it just be delayed pay? No, because changing to a future appt fills in a slot where a 2nd customer could be booked. Effectively, Anglo would be getting two appts for the price of one. Perhaps some posters' strong reactions are not to the facts of this situation, or even the rant, but maybe the language used to describe the failures of these two people in their jobs. "Is there no work ethic anymore?" is condemning the whole work force for being incompetent, instead of just relating to this actual situation. If I relied on oxygen to live my life, I know I'd be very frustrated at not receiving the order in a timely matter, as well as having an expensive machine failing within such a short time. But there are millions of people in the work force, most doing their best to do their jobs well.

We just finished building this house.. irrigation pump has been working for a few weeks just fine. I noticed that the grass was looking a little brown and decided to double check the pump. When I turn it on I hear a very faint sound from it for about ten seconds then it clicks off... what gives?
