I hope you used the Norton Removal tool to remove it and thus making sure all NORTON files are gone I can't tell you how many times folks remove NORTON only to have stragglers left behind... It's a fact Norton does not run well on some machines, their is also user confusion using NORTON correctly.. It's also true NORTON is the best for virus file type infections. Pros & cons. On one of the sites I belong to we have a NORTON rep assisting users that would be SWI FORUMS. I have also heard that the NORTON 2008 has gotten better as far as taking up space and using resources.

I asked the question early on if there is a limited user account set up for the teenagers, that is NUMBER ONE on the list of what to do no matter what else is done. I also think what you are doing in taking care of these young people is fabulous and thank God for people like you and their parents who are fighting for all of us, Thank you all. I also would ask in reference to the actual computer, does this computer belong to you or to them? This would make all the difference to me. I would not ever put a keylogger on my machine, now if it is theirs that will become their problem. A keylogger is malware plain and simple, you do not know what else a program like that may be installing on your computer and the way they install themselves to be hard to detect and remove makes it all the more reason NOT to trust them or put them on your pc willingly. How do you really know all the info it is capturing is not going out to someone else also? I do not find companies that make that type of product to be the most stand up trustworthy. I agree about the time factor, someone has to sit there and read all that info that the keylogger will spew out. And remember it will not just record their keystrokes it will record all of them, so who ever has the job of reading the info will be reading the info that every one that typed at that pc wrote, big huge can of worms just waiting to be opened from my view. I would not want anyone reading my stuff. Also if you have others over and they use that pc adult or child their info will be viewable, that can really quickly jump into a sticky situation, you would have to tell them before they used that pc that everything they type will be seen. I have visitors come here often and I let them use my computers, I have accounts set up just for that, limited user accounts, and I would never consider spying on what they typed or did, plus you would be seeing passwords too. There are so many better ways to work with this kind of situation and not use a keylogger which is an extreme breach of privacy on all parts. Again if they are using admin accounts or have access to the admin account and password you are giving them the key to the castle and putting any type of program on there is useless because they have the admin rights to disable it. And I totally agree that they have to be told it is going to be on the pc, none of us know the story behind this or the history but not telling them would be a huge risk of losing their trust and it could hurt them alot. Not a quick and easy decision to make.

Here's a suggestion on how to do this without problems: 1)Download whichever AV program you decide you want. 2)SAVE it to desktop or a folder where you keep downloads. 3)Go OFFLINE and uninstall Norton. 4)While OFFLINE, install the new AV program by double-clicking the setup file you downloaded. 5)Go ONLINE and update the new program. You should have no problems with conflicts if you follow this sequence.
