AVG Question

I installed the AVG 8. with the old version when it was doing a scan I had a wheel spinning in the bar at the bottom (where the clock sits) now with upgrade its not there but I do see the yellow light flashing in the modem, is this the way it should be?

I don't see any animations on the tray icon during a scan.

Sounds like they don't use it anymore. Someone mentioned that in an earlier post. Peaked my interest because I've been using AVG and nothing ever spun.

I am up and running with it now.
I like the changed format etc.

Caroline... If you were to go to free.grisoft.com and look at the page that compares free versus the paid version you'll see mainly that the paid version offers additional protection for spyware, maybe popups, and rootkits. There's other programs that offer spyware protection and rootkit searches available for free. Urlee... no they dont accumulate, they replace old with new files.

I had the same message, but reopened the AVG program and ran update again (10:28am EDT) and everything ran smoothly. If it was an AVG problem I think they fixed it.

On the old (7.5) AVG the icon used to "spin" around & around as it was checking the incoming e-mails.

Ever since I installed AVG 8, when I bootup my computer, I get a message saying update connection with server failed.
Wonder what it is referring to?
I didn't even click to go online yet when that appears.
I hope it isn't stopping me from my windows update notifications?

With the AVG 8, I get a pop-up now telling me its scanning mail, I always go up to Windows updates and check to see if there is anything new through "All Programs" I try to understand all the things on here and somehow fumble through.

Why this??????

After I installed AVG 8,
I get this every time I boot up.
I am on dialup and didn't dial up yet.(not online)

Think if you open the program - in its menu bar, the Tools item - Select that and then Advanced settings...

Schedules / Virus Database Update Schedule.
You should see the settings to choose something other than the check on start up.

I found and unchecked that box.
I bet that was and IS the answer!
I won't know until I shut down as I have oodles to do on here yet.

One more question about the AVG 8 in the Event History does one empty or refresh? also I have nothing in my virus vault hope thats good.
