I guess the technical answer is it would depend on the temperature of the water, but even if it were very hot it would not radiate enough heat to keep things very warm. I've got a total of about 800 gallons of water in several heated tanks inside a 10'x30' greenhouse. This amount of heated water does make a significant difference in my greenhouse, but even so I'm running electric water heaters at night.

It also helps to add tank stabilizers to the back of the tank that then attach to the wall behind the tank. These don't cost much as add much needed support when heavier users lean their backs against the back of the tank. Without the stabilizers, the tank loosens creating leaks or even breaking the tank. We install new toilets with stabilizers on every toilet we set. The stabilizers will also prevent the rocking of the tank that will ruin the tank donut (gasket).

The newer model Fluidmaster has a plastic screw type adjustment, not the metal bar w/ spring clip. The float is adjusted perfectly: the water fills right to the line embossed on the tank. Maybe I can explain the problem differently. After flushing, the bowl fills up fairly quickly. While the tank is filling up, water is shooting out fairly fast from the refill tube, into the overflow pipe. The water in the bowl is rippling while this is happening. Eventually, when the water reaches the marked line in the tank, the float arm raises and the fill valve shuts off, and the water stops rippling in the bowl. My concern is about the rippling water while the tank is filling. Is this water being wasted? Its actually my mother's toilet and she swears up and down that the rippling water indicates wasted water. I hope this description is better.

ibl_19 posted that he/she had just called the septic company after 5pm on Friday. May not have gotten them out. Or they may have just come by to empty tank again until they can get maybe a back hoe or other equipment there on Monday. Always costs more on a weekend, plus everyone likes their weekends off if possible! We've had septic and well problems through out the 40 years we have had them and if you can manage to make it thru the weekends you can save yourself up to $200 waiting until Monday. Not fun, but it's nice to have great neighbors!
