PSP X2 help needed

Hi, I installed Paint Shop Pro Photo X2 several weeks ago and all was well. I have been having fun with it until yesterday when it started acting up. First it tries to access the floppy drive every time I open a picture. Second in the middle of working on a project it just quits, I get that screen that says "Paint Shop Pro has encountered a problem and needs to shut down" and of course it wants to send an error report to Microsoft.

I am frustrated as this is one of two stress relievers for me, the other being gardening. I am NOT a graphic artist, far from it, but I love creating things in this program and now I can't use it.

Any help would be appreciated.............

have you tried just uninstalling and reinstalling it? Sometimes you can get corruption in some of the files and a reinstall will fix that.
Did you happen to install any new programs or anything at all around that time?
If you go to start control panel add remove program find it in the list and select it there should be not only the option to remove it but also repair, doing that or doing a reinstall would be worth a try.

I did uninstall, then reinstalled and so far it seems to be working okay, I actually completed a small project but I am nervous that it will start happening again....just a feeling!

AND! PSP keeps trying to access the floppy drive, when I open an image from the c drive, or when the program starts, or when I save..........well you get the picture!

This will not be a big help, but sometimes just shutting down you computer and restarting does the trick. If that doesn't help, maybe someone more knowledgeable can help. Carol

Hi, this is Karen (jacksmum friend). I want to thank the both of you for your help. Urlee unchecking the retain style box worked. It actually solved both the problems. And I have to agree this computer is the pits but it's all I have until I can find parts for my other one. Now if you don't mind I have another question for you both. How can I move the layers pallette under the materials palette. Om my old computer all 3 of the pallettes (materials, preview, and layer) were all lined up in a nice row on the right hand side of my screen. But when I loaded it onto this computer you see from the screen shot above that they are large and not lined up. Thank you both for all your help! katieangelamber

if its growing with such gusto.. one might argue that it got over whatever stress it experienced back in time ... so i guess i wouoldnt worry about some unknown multiplying factor of stress ... just do it ... what i wonder is why its doing this so fast .. i repot once every 5 years.. whether they neeed it or not ... are you hyper fertilizing??? .. or using media with fert?? otherwise ... seems like you are complaining that you are being to successful ... whats that all about ??? ken

I emailed Corel with my problem and lo and behold, they answered this morning. I used their unistall download, which they say works better than add/remove programs. Then after reinstalling they sent me a link for updates/patches. Seems to be working fine now and so far the floppy drive is not being accessed when in PSP. OF course I have not used it yet to get photos from my old Sony, which uses a floppy disk. If I continue to have problems I will just try replacing the drive, it might just be bad.
