do you happen to still have the paper work that came with it like the directions and the instructions manual that will have all your default info in it and how to reset it. If not look on the bottom for the model and google that you should be able to go to the manufacturer site and find the manuals. Did you set up your router originally with it connected to a desktop computer, in other words which pc did you install the software on? The router is setup on the family PC not my Laptop. Unplugging the router (and modem if one) itself from power and powering down all the computers, then power up the modem if you have cable first then after a while power up the router and once it is fully up then power up the various computers, often makes a big difference. I think we have a modem and a router for Xbox and laptops. are you just using the Vista built in firewall? As Firefox now seems to come with the Google toolbar why would you want Yahoo? Just curious of course. I do not allow any of those toolbars to clutter up my valuable viewing space. I drag the space where I type my Google query up to the right of the address bar and leave the rest of the toolbar off entirely. This space also has a small drop down menu to the left of it offering my the option to use Google, Yahoo and 4 other features if I need. Regarding the Jave Console I do not have one but I do have Java installed.

Ok I downloaded the malwarebytes and ran a full scan; went to bed because it was taking so long. Got up today and saw it had completed the scan and it found 4 items. So I clicked to remove them and it said to restart the computer. Before I did, I copied what the notepad said. Then restarted the computer. Unfortunately, when I restarted the computer, I was unable to get an internet connection so I got worried that I deleted an important program and clicked restore on the malbyte menu. Then when that didnt work, I called for tech support and spent the last hour & a half on the phone with technical support both with Microsoft and ATT Tech Support. Nothing was working. To make a long story short, the end result - I disconnected the modum, turned off the computer completely.....let it sit for about 3 mins and then plugged the modum back in; waited for all the lights to come on steady and then I restarted the computer. Everything seems to be working now, I can access the internet (obviously, since I'm posting here) and I went back to the malwarebytes program and copied what the note pad said. Not sure if this is different from what it said after the initial scan, before I clicked on "restore deleted items". My niece is almost 50 and she said in no uncertain terms, no one will touch it. We found one model that was being replaced with a new model and got it for $399. I think her daughter might look it over just to see what kind it is, but she has uncommonly good sense. Her nieces and nephews are the problem, because they do things their way and that is the right way. They wanted her to buy protection, free stuff is not good enough. She took my word that is was fine. Setting up this PC was harder than usual, I think it was because I had someone looking over my shoulder, but some the things were very different. I forgot spyware blaster, will do it the next time we meet. I did the other stuff except for CC, I didn't want her to get into the registry. I have a list explanations and instructions on my PC and will print one off for her. She didn't want a password to turn on her PC and I agreed with her since she is the only one who will use it. When I did that one day the PC would not accept my pass word. HP would not help me either.
