BlueStar - oven window too hot with children?
Comments (19)same subject... redux.. ad nauseum... This is an inditement of modern parenting theory rather than the what the tempurature of a Bluestar (or any other) oven might get to when operated. Guess I am getting really old now... I grew up in a farm house with a wood burning cast iron stove... guarrantee that if a young'un touched it once ... it would never happen again (and none of us did that I am aware of). I wonder what ever happened to "learning life's little lessons?" In fact that stove got so hot we didn't even have to think once, much less twice about staying clear of it!!!! Perhaps we would all be much safer if it was hot enough blister on contact like my grandma's wood stove. Kids will never learn anything, if the parents do all the thinking for them. Or worse, make it so they never have to think for themselves. Does it seem oddly ironic that the less we spank and physically discipline our kids, the meaner and more violent the younger generation becomes?(such as our armed teenagers shooting each other) So much for "time outs"). Personal behavior and consequences is an important lesson for life, becoming more and more overlooked. Oh, forgive me... I do have a microwave that has an instruction manual warning me not to dry my kitty cat in it after her "shampoo". The day when we make everything absolutely 100% safe and risk-free, we will no longer be able to think and reason for ourselves. Then who will we turn to? The government? Hah!...See MoreHow hot do the oven doors get on a blue star 60' range
Comments (3)I'm glad I found this post. I am also concerned with the amount of heat on the exterior sides of my 30" BS oven so much so that last night we decided to purchase an infrared thermometer and hit the sides with it - the temperature ranged from 145degrees to 240degrees- I think that is wayyy too hot. One side of my range will be exposed and the other next to a cupboard. Since my granite is not on yet, we removed the adjacent cabinet and the wood was also extremely hot- wondering if this is going to ruin our custom drawer fronts since they are adjacent to the range. Any info will help....See MoreMy newly installed Blue Star is hot and noisy
Comments (12)If its a RSC you are saving $1000 if its an RNB your saving is $1900. you can also check to see how old it is by looking at the serial number, it starts with the year then month it was made....0910*** Remember you only get a 3 month warranty on a shop floor display ranges, also it should be noted that if the dealer is not an authorized Blustar you will not have any warranty at all. If its the RNB you will not be entitled to the free white glove install. On the face of it its a good deal, provided you take note of the above....See MoreBlue Star oven not calibrated.
Comments (19)I was assuming this is a gas oven but I see that Blue Star makes electric ovens as well. So, we need to know if this is a gas or electric unit. Also, how long is 'eons' in minutes? :-) Also, how long have you had the oven? Did you recently switch to a gas oven from having an electric one before? (Gas ovens take longer to heat up.) When I had an electric oven, I would turn on the oven to preheat right before I started making cookie dough, etc. When the dough was ready, so was the oven. When I switched to an all gas oven, I learned that the oven had to be turned on to preheat while I was just thinking about making cookies! As in a good long 30-45 minutes before I wanted to bake. So, if this a new to you oven, new to you gas oven, do a timed preheat. Let it heat for 30 minutes, check the oven temp vs set temp and repeat at the 45 minute mark. If it hasn't reached set temps after 45 minutes, then call for service....See Moreweissman
