Eudora and Comcast Problem

O.K. I've talked to Comcast till I'm blue in the face, goggled every conceivable title for problem I'm having and still no results.

Whenever someone hits "Reply" to a message I've sent, it sometimes comes back to them as "undeliverable..and winds up with showing secsteve@mail.comcast.net. As far as I can tell the @mail is what is causing the problem, but darn if I can figure it out and Comcast is no help. I tried the Eudora help forums too with no luck.

It seems to be happening more frequently now and I'm at my wits end. I've checked all the settings in both Eudora for PC and Eudora for Mac and I know their correct.

Any suggestions/insights as what may be causing the problem?

It sure sounds like eudora is adding that mail. to your return address but I have no idea why. Is the problem always with the same users and does it happen for them every time or just now and then?

Bob, it seems to happen to a select few users and only when they hit Reply. As I said, I know Eudora is set up right so don't know what is causing it.

A friend said today when he added me (I guess from the email I sent) it added the @mail.comcast.net.

Eudora help didn't have any answer at all, so hope someone can give me a way to resolve this problem.

From the Comcast Help: While using Mozilla Firefox, Select Tools from the top menu, and Options from the drop down list. Select Main. Enter in the address of the site you wish to set as your home page. I assume it would be http://www.comcast.net Click OK to return to Firefox. Restart Firefox to check.

I don't feel your problem has anything to do with Comcast. Try doing a Google search using the words "repair Outlook Express", and you'll come up with lots of help sites. I think this is what you probably need to do since your OE program has probably become corrupted and isn't working properly.

My 85yr old Mom does not have a cell phone and signed up for time warner phone last year. She already had them for TV and went from verizon old fashioned copper line to time warner phone. She didn't have long distance and figured for the price now she gets unlimited long distance. I had no clue she was doing this so don't know if they told her about no phone if the power goes out since they don't have battery back up like verizon fios but I told her after the fact and I think she still doesn't understand it and thinks as long as she has an old fashioned phone plugged in and not a cordless one she is fine when power is out, sigh, I try to explain as best I can. She could get a trac phone or something but that would defeat the purose of the savings and one more thing for her to learn that just would not go well. Power seldom goes out in our area unless a very bad storm so no biggie and good neighbor who has fios knows about the situation in case she did need to use a phone in a power outage. If most stuff goes to online tech support gonna be hard for elderly like my Mom that don't have a computer. Heck even most prodcuts today don't come with a paper manual and the manual has to be found online in PDF. Maru

Comcast strikes again - bad internet cable wiring

Lol the goons. I was at a house the other day where a lady had just moved in and needed electrical changes. She had the cable guy come out, which he was supposed to connect cable phone and internet in her office. She wanted an outlet in closet so that the router could be in there. I had to fish from the electrical outlet over a finsihed basement to the panel cutout. Cable guy had to run his cable across the siding and poke in. My favorite was he shows up and I answer the door in my work clothes and tool belt. He says is ... home? I say no and that I am an electrician working there. He says well are you over the age of 18? (I look kind of young) "Yes". He then enters the house and chuckles "Hah huh, odd this lady would let us guys work in her house all alone" He then ran the cable out of the closet to the desk where he sat the router right in the middle, ran a phone cord right across the floor to the existing phone jack on the other side of the room. I got to re-do everthing after he left.

Still having this problem and am contemplating switching to Thunderbird.

Comcast is still working with me to try and resolve the problem but not sure if it's worth the effort.

I'd like to hear from Thunderbird users about any potential problems I should be aware of.

I used Thunderbird for years and really liked it, have not used it in quite a while though but think it is a very good option. I now just use web based email clients, just easier to me. I of course have comcast email addresses since I am with them but I have never used them.

Well, it appears it is an AOL problem after all. Comcast has been great about trying to resolve the problem and I should have a final solution by Thursday.

Of course, I guess I should either upgrade my email system or go with web based.
