Maybe you can right click the book file and select "Open with", if that option is available and then find Windows Media Player. It does sound like a mess. Don't think you need to uninstall MusicMatch Jukebox. You could also open WMP, click file/open, and go find the book file. I have no idea why you'd need a MP3 player to the computer via the USB cable to play it.

Jeepers, why all the Apple dislike? I have to admit that I used PCs at work and was pretty good with them, back in the old DOS days. Then I quit my job and went to grad school, which had the old original Apple computers. Oh, the joy of using a mouse! The user interface with icons, instead of having to remember each and every little DOS command. I became an Apple convert then and there and have never looked back. I work on a PC (literally, I only use one at work), and play on my iMac. And I went out the very first day the very first iPod went on sale and bought one. They were tucked away in the back of the Apple store, around a corner. The sales person I asked didn't even know where they were and had to ask someone else for help. How things have changed in that regard. lyban, if you get an iPod and have any questions about iTunes or anything, I'll be glad to try and help.

Oh camlan, I think you've hit on a good idea there. I just checked the regional talking library offerings, and they're excellent. Loads of stuff my mom would enjoy. Also, looks like I can arrange a shared password; I could make the selections & have them shipped for her, bypassing my stubborn dad. (The talking library is affiliated with a regional university -- doubly intimidating!) To return the audiobooks & player, probably all they'd have to do is repackage them & stick it in their mailbox for pick up. So easy! Looks like some of the audiobooks are downloadable too. Maybe I could still get an mp3 player for my dad and let his curiosity for gadgets take over. That would help to sell the basic idea. (heh heh!) The only obstacle is getting my folks to fill out that downloadable application form. It can be impossible to get my dad to do anything that isn't his idea -- he wants to be in complete control, y'know how that goes? And my mom defers to him. Thanks very much for the tip. I'll look into it further & see if I can get my sister on board. Dad does have a soft spot for the "baby" of the family ;)
