Well, I now have a Nook Tablet AND a Kindle Fire. I'm planning to return one of them but I felt like I had to try them both. I've had the Nook for a few days but just got the Fire tonight. So far I think I like the Nook better. I like the feel of it - it's more comfortable to hold and not as slippery. It also has kind of a frame around the screen that makes it nicer to hold compared to the Fire which just has a little ridge around the edge - probably why the Fire is a bit smaller. I want to use it without a book-like cover on it - will just store it in a sleeve. I do think the web browser is better on the Fire since it has tabs and the keyboard and shortcuts are nice. However the Nook touch screen seemed more responsive - touching things on the Kindle sometimes didn't "register". The Nook has more options for the book display though and I think some of them are easier on the eyes than the Fire - at least I prefer some of the options that aren't available on the Fire. I imagine a lot of this stuff can change though with a software update. What wouldn't change is the home button on the Nook which I also like - maybe I've just gotten used to it. I'm going to try them out over the weekend and then decide. I do think Amazon is way ahead on content but I'm mainly interested in books and there are lots of books available through B&N and other sources. Kindle has many more apps but I don't care much about that because I do all that stuff on my iPhone. One thing I loved with the Nook was that my favorite magazine (Cooking Light) is available in a beautiful version tailored to the Nook. There is a Cooking Light app that's available for the Kindle to paper magazine subscribers but I really don't want the paper magazine. That could just push me over the edge. Plus I kind of want to give the underdog a chance.

I have a 10" Samsung tablet and the newest iPad. I use them for reading books, newspapers, and magazines. If I only read books, I would probably get a Kindle Paperwhite or Kindle Fire for that purpose, but it makes a big difference to have the larger screen for magazines and newspapers. I also do routine Internet things like email and Skype (and of course you can Skype with anyone who also has Skype, regardless of what device they have it on). I find a tablet is essential for traveling as I can have access to more magazines than I could ever read on vacation, and the tablet is all I'm hauling around. We also use one of the tablets in the living room for email and looking things up, as well as bringing it into the kitchen to use while cooking. I don't carry them with me around town, but rely on my smartphone instead. We use a regular computer for long emails or for long posts on GardenWeb, but if I'm doing onscreen typing the bigger screen on the tablet means that the typing is easier than with a 7" device. If I have to do a lot of typing and I only have access to my tablet, I have a compact wireless keyboard ($20) that I can type on faster than using the onscreen keyboard.

marita there has been updates to your model the final official Asus firmware update for the device is 4.0.3, released in July of 2012. The build number ends in .27 I have found the links for the firmware update for you, I will link it below. However it would be much easier if you would try getting over the air through the tablet, try doing as I suggested, settings, about tablet, system update and have it connect and scan for one. Watch the notifications bar for a download arrow and check the notifications list for any downloads, if you see it click it and select to install it. Otherwise you will have to go to the link below and find the proper firmware for your specific tablet, it's critical that you get the one for the right sku, it tells you there how to determine your own sku, I would think that it would be the US one. Now from what I read directly from Asus they are not issuing a Jellybean update for the 101 versions. I think I would try contacting Asus support and find out more about the firmware update that is offered there on their site and what options you have, and also how to get the updates over the air as you should. I wish I could help more but that's about it. Of course there's always the option to go to the xda forums and have them help you install a custom ROM that they have created which will allow you to have the latest Jellybean. Fish, yes they held together, but whether they still have cleaning power is yet to be seen lol. I imagine if the enzymes died that they will still clean non stained, non tragic loads. Thank you for the suggestion on using liquid detergent as a sort of glue, it worked well. And I'm thinking had I used water once it dried it may have sll crumbled. Jean, your gonna make them?
