Trouble With IE7/8, OE 6, Goback And More

I have a HP Presario with XP & have auto updates on & get all the updates.

About a month ago I upgraded to IE8 & used it trouble free for two days. The third day I was having trouble with it, so I decided to remove it and go back to IE7 - this is when all my problems began. I work online & have not had to time to mess with it until now, so I hope I can remember it all.

I'm not sure what happened, but I can no longer type or do anything except use the mouse to navigate on my IE 7. I now use Chrome, but want IE back for its features & also I have additional problems. I can not type or use OE either, I no longer have any calendar or dates to select to use on my "GoBack/Restore" page. In order for me to do my email, I have to go online. OE downloads & I can hit reply, but I can not type any thing in or add signature or anything.I can't remember all, but I know I installed & uninstalled IE a few times to see if it would work, nothing helped. I wanted to go back, but lost those options also. I am now stuck using Chrome, but I can not find how to set it up -- there is no menus, or print preview or send link to and things like that. I REALLY would like to be able to use my OE again & have the Restore option again. I do not want to do a complete reformat, because I use my PC for work & have a lot I do not want to have to replace. Is there a way I can restore IE, OE & GoBack without have to reformat?

I APPRECIATE ANY AND ALL HELP!!!! Need any other info, let me know. I will check back -- THANKS!!!!

1. Restart your computer.
2. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu.
3. Select the option for Last known good configuration using the arrow keys.
4. Then press enter on your keyboard.

OK, I just did this & it did not work. I still can not type in IE or OE.

Broad mite damage is consistant with rolled under leaves and also could be associated with brittle deformed leaves at the growth tip. Sometimes the lower leaves become rolled under on the edges and can get that shiny bronzed look. Then they will concentrate on the growth tips and can do alot of damage and spread to other plants if not controlled. The broad mites are fairly microscopic and you won't be able to see them the way that you see the red and two-spotted spidermites. Broad mites actually like humidity too unlike the reg spider mites so misting your plants with water wont help. The females can also lie dormant in the soil overwinter as well. What they don't like is heat so you can try immersing the whole plant: roots, leaves and all in hot water (43-49 C which = @ 109-120 degrees F) for 15 minutes. I have tried this and it was a messy job lol. I took a pair of pantyhose and cut off the leg and put it around the pot and tied it around the plant stem best I could and just dipped the whole thing. For larger plants I really don't see how it could be done-but others have tried some interesting things, I think. From what I have heard, tried, read: the two best working miticides are forbid (spiromesifen) and Avid (abamectin). Apparently with forbid being the better of the two. I haven't had these mites this year (thankfully)so I haven't used it lately but apparently the mites will build up a resistance so rotating methods helps vs using the same thing all the time.

Bucky, IMO, the best thing you can do is to keep the coolant at maximum full level at all times. It has been my experience that when Dexcool gets low and mixes with air for an extended period of time, it becomes really nasty and gunky. Also, although the extended coolants are suppose to go 100,000+ miles, I think you would be best served to flush and refill the system a little more frequently than that. Some of the intake manifold bolts are easier to access than others. I do not advise retorquing retorquing the easy bolts and not the others as this may actually put more uneven pressure on the gasket and potentially cause a leak. I do not see any benefits in spending the time and/or money to simply retorque the intake manifold bolts because of accessability issues. Once you get to them you might as well take the few additional steps (removing valve covers, rocker arms, pushrods, intake, etc.) and go ahead and replace the gaskets.

I can't use the back arrow more than twice in a row without having IE6 close. Java can't update, and I can't copy or paste or use my email tools from Charter. It does crazy things like bring up infinite search windows from time to time (until I manually turn the computer off). I have to delete my temporary files manually, the buttons don't have any results under Internet Options. My FTP site is not accessible. IE6 is closing increasingly, yet I have less trouble with software than I've ever had before. Morrowind is a CDTer and most people get anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour of play before a CDT, but I can play for hours. The problems are all centered around this IE6 rollback from IE7. All my virus scans are negative, as well as searching for rootkits. This IE6 never did work as it was supposed to...I can't get rid or it unless I start over, and I don't have the time! I luv it when people put up a fight instead of hauling the confuser off to the repair shop. Great going. Google is or should be everybody's friend. So too is Youtube these days as it seems more and more tutorials are appearing on there. A couple of points you never mentioned but no doubt thought about. If your machine came with SP2 it might be safe to say it is 4 years old or better. If so you probably would be unhappy trying to run Win7 on it even with updates that possibly cannot be migrated to a new computer you will no doubt buy sometime down the road. Money. Not having to buy Win7 saved you plenty, keeping and updating XP never cost a dime, frustration yes but no cash. Had you bought Win7 you would have an excess copy once you buy a new computer - unless you self build of course. Nice work.

I just did another install of IE7 that someone told me about. So far, it seems to be working, but haven't tried every thing yet. THANKS so much for the help!!!

1
