question about Thunderbird

Since I'm starting all over again on my PC, I had to re-download and install Thunderbird as I have Windows 7 OS. I was able to get a bunch of my e-mails but is there any way to get to that original account and retrieve my addresses and some of my archive stuff?

It sounds like you have reinstalled the operating system, you should have saved the e- mail files then, if you were able to. I know of no way to get that data back now.

well it depends on what email client you were using if it was a webmail client then you should be able to get all of it back from going to the actual webmail site rather than accessing it through your thunderbird. So what email client are you using? and what type is it? Since windows 7 does not come with an embedded email client I would suspect you may be using a web based email.

Wake up, I and most religious groups of which I am not a member, have a right to express their views including support for a voter's proposition. As for Marriage, that "Term/Word" had a long standing definition, and it isn't any two or three or whatever can do whatever they want and call it Marriage. .If some what to do other than the traditional (long standing, how about a thousand years) meaning of the word Marriage, think up their own word. I don't lcare what they do. I am Married and I don't think I should have to explain what that means. I am not telling people what they can do I'm saying Marriage is already defined in practice and law. I am seeking an alternative to Mozilla due to that organization folding to those who would punish anyone who doesn't line up with their view, who, more than a few of us, believe the word Marriage is already in use and defined. Tax law and rights to inheritance and hospital visitor access, to mention a few, doesn't require the mutilation of the word Marriage.

The answer to my second question is this... Earthlink has been trying to phase out a particular server for years now. You need to access your server settings via account settings and change the server and port assignments. Problem laid to rest... ver 2.0 installed

This happened to be to an organization and I only know one of the people personally. The address for the one that didn't go was given to me and now I know it was given to me incorrectly. An O instead of an A in the name. I wanted to know for sure if the other two were sent, and now I know they were. Thanks to both of you for the replies. Sue

Zep, I couldn't save anything, I had to do a recovery. Raven, you have lost me. When I got this PC with Windows 7, you guys helped me get my e-mail addies from my former Outlook programs. I can do a search and get those instructions again, I just thought since Thunderbird comes from the net that my former account might be out there in cyber space somewhere. I had no idea how to get to it, so I just re-downloaded and installed it again. I just didn't know if there was actually a way to connect to it again. I know my idea of what it seems may be kind of crazy, sorry!

One disadvantage of email clients like Thunderbird is that the information was stored on your PC, not on the internet. I use and like Thunderbird but keep back ups of address book, etc. If Thunderbird was not set to delete email from your ISP's servers when they were downloaded you may find some of your messages there. Otherwise it's all gone. I don't think any of the recovery tools would find it since the OS was reinstalled.
