I tried posting earlier, but I guess my security was up too high, and was not allowing cookies. I've got alot to learn.... I do have a 64 bit Windows 7 Home Premium, though it says Windows 6.1 build? Intel Core 2 Duo P 7450 @ 2.13 Ghz with 6 Gb ram. I am not having any problems. I just know that your forum highly recommends Malwarebytes. I have used it in the past, just hadn't had time to install it on my new one. I have Window Firewall. Is that good enough? I plan to set up a new Linksys network. I will review some of the posts about setting up a new network. Is Trend Micro Antivirus a good program? I do have a new external HD to back everything up, but I have a question that I will post in a new post. Thanks again for your help.

I went to and read the "linux.oneandoneis2.org" site, and.... gee, don't take it too personal, but, what a crock of s^^^.... It really doesn't have much to offer, other than to act as some sort of a mouth piece for a large proprietary OS systems vendor, there is very, very little useful to offer there.... Dang Zep, have you ever actually installed and/or used a Linux variant in the past say....year and a half, maybe?? Or even ever? Hmm, I had not read the whole MS page but basically you only need to follow the first 2 instructions. I have never had to use those other instructions myself. Remember that if you get flustered just click the Cancel button to get out of where you are. There is nothing to be afraid of when using System File Checker. You It simply goes through your computer checking all the operating system files and replaces those which are corrupt or missing. The need for the CD is so it can get the needed files to install for you. The slight downside is that it takes the computer back to when your particular CD was created which means you will be behind on security updates and possibly a service pack. No big deal there either, you simply go to the windows update site and the computer grabs whatever it needs. You are doing nothing wrong. Who knows why those files went missing. Perhaps/probably it was due to the power outage. You can of course extract and install each of those files if you wish to avoid using SFC. Follow the instructions here to do that for each file. You do not have to do them all at one time. Try one, see how it goes then do others as you feel up to the task.
