Finished Bathroom Pics (two bathrooms!)--very pic heavy
Comments (41)Wooo!!! Cat, I am stuck at home because of the snow storm so wandered around here not looking at anything in particular and came upon your thread. I totally agree with you on the shower curtain choice. Regardless of whether I have the money to spare or not, keeping those suckers clean is a nuisance over time. We have a glass shower door that was installed back in 2003 and I can't tell you how much I hate cleaning it. Not that the door is all that dirty, but a shower curtain is way easier, and you can change the look/style whenever you feel like it. Can't do that with a pricey shower door. Anyway, everything looks lovely as usual, including the "prom" dress :-) Love, love those circular tiles, and the floor tiles that look like fabric. Gorgeous. What colour is that again? It looks greyish on my monitor....See MoreWWYD - Mosaic tile accents?
Comments (30)mrspete, if I do the wall behind the tub or the wall at the end of the tub, it will be clearly visible when you enter the room. The vanity wall is on the same wall as the entry door, so not so much. And I do want the tile to make a statement, but not be overwhelming, and not look like we were just trying to "fit it in" somewhere. Its a tough line to walk, for sure, and I am not the artistic type so I have a great deal of difficulty visualizing things. BTW, this tile is $45 a sq ft I think, not cheap but a lot less than some similar mosaics I saw and liked that were $100 +. Nevertheless, given that I seem to have very expensive taste, budget may be a factor. nancyinmich, your comments really have me thinking. You sound like you definitely have a good sense of design! I will see if I can do a mock up somehow to see how it looks. But I'm really not sure about the backsplash, only because I want the counter and backsplash to be easy to keep clean. The uneven texture of the mosaic and all that grout gives me the hebejebees. And I somehow feel like it would be better viewed from a distance. FYI, I am planning on wall mounted faucets. More $$$4 ;-)....See MoreRobern bryn mawr medicine cabinet: anything similar for less?
Comments (15)Just wanted to follow up. I ordered the Pottery Barn Kensington. I got it on sale 20% off and free shipping, so something like $350 (?) compared to the Robern that I think was $1100 or maybe more. Crazy. It’s not installed yet but it’s on sight and it looks nice. Thanks so much everyone. @Diana Bier Thanks for your help....See MoreIs a $1400 Robern medicine cabinet ten x better than a $147 pegasus?
Comments (5)Whatever you decide, be sure to clean it correctly. We have had a few people here complaining that expensive medicine cabinet mirrors (including Robern) are losing their silvering, turning black at the edges. Then they are told that they never should have used any cleansers on them. No windex, nothing. Water and a clean cloth on that glass and its frame. I ended up with midrange or slightly better, big (almost 40” high by 22” wide) Pottery Barn mirrors with electrical plugs inside them on sale for maybe $800 each. I love having the doors opening on opposite sides so that the inside mirrors on the doors face each other. I can finally see the back and sides of my head....See Morehomepro01
