building stairs

I am having a custom home built and just had my first inspection done . The stairs , which i am paying top dollar for, were noted in the inspection report. They are free floating hourglass stairs. According to my inspector the second floor stair stringers are not fully bearing on the floor framing due to an improper cut. The stair builder says that to correct this he plans to use an L bracket. My question is will this sufficiently correct the problem? What sort of problems can arise down the line due to this improper cut? Will the stairs be creaky or worse, unstable? Should I insist that they re-cut the stringer? Any insight from professionals would be greatly appreciated. I have a photo of the stringer also - http://i1013.photobucket.com/albums/af252/njfootgirl/Stairs/stairstringer.jpg
