Personally I think it is a FFv28 concern. I am always current with Flash and Shockwave, but ever since the release of v28 I too have had the delay at times. I've even crossed over to an alternate browser to view the targeted page at times. This maneuver works without delay. I've updated to the recently released v29, but it is too early to tell if there is an improvement. DA

Hi, Owbist. I don't think dust bunnies have been cleaned out for a year (and maybe not even then). My computer repair guy added 512 mb ram then (it had been only 256) - and I think he would have cleaned out the dust bunnies, but I'm not certain. So I can try that. I think he put in the maximum memory my desktop could hold. I have no idea what firewall I'm using or how to even tell. I know her computer is conected to my linksys router (her connection is wired). I had some vague notion that it included a firewall that served both our computers. But, honestly, "firewall" is one of those terms that scares me bc. I know I should know more about it and make sure I have adequate protection, but I'm not (kind of like some people think of retirement funds- you know it's important but may stick your head in the sand). Last night after I wrote the above post, I did download, update and run superantispyware - which found 167 items, which I then removed. I haven't gotten on to her computer since. (Well, I tried and wanted to remove old, unnecessary software - for a printer we no longer have - but it kind of stopped and froze midstream.) I confess that I do disk cleanup and defrag on my computer, but have forgotten to do hers since I passed it down to her in January. I will do that now. Now, I did the msconfig to see what start up programs are running. I apologise for the different threads. It was very late, I was tired, and determined to "fix it" before I went to bed, and becoming more irritated because I couldn't. Here's the scenario: Usually watch YouTube music videos a while in the evening, so, day before this happened, everything was fine, shut computer down, went to bed. Next evening, logged into YouTube with the error message: you must have Java off or not have latest Adobe Flash. I had NOT changed any files, etc. Checked the Adobe I had, went to Adobe website to check. Installed the latest Adobe Flash. I also installed the latest Adobe Reader and Shockwave Player, since mine were out of date. And, although I didn't opt to install it, the Adobe Air showed up on my programs list. I also went to Java and got their latest updates. Videos stil won't play, so I came here with the problem. Advice was to go to Adobe site, get the uninstaller,download to desktop, close browser, uninstall Adobe again, then go to Adobe page and re-install. I did, and still videos won't play. I have an Dell from 2002, Windows XP Home, 32-bit, 7.30GB of free space.

I dont have the link to the trouble repair method on adobe site but basically its.... look in task manager for Macromedia & Flash Player, end all processes you find there.. Uninstall from control panel....then use the uninstall tool, delete all the folders and files you can find on the hard drive... Restart before installing fresh.
