Read this article from PCWorld - or only the first paragraph to give you an idea of this very useful program. It has been around quite a while and I have seen no adverse comments on the program. Jut be sure to use it at the default settings and you will not go wrong. This is a free program, you can get it here, or a download source of your choosing.

The only thing I have checked in Advanced is Old Prefetch data. To be on the safe side, I'd just leave the default settings checked. I don't think it is necessary to have CCleaner reset settings on your computer every time you do a clean up. The Advanced settings may clean up a little stuff, but probably not worth having it reset custom settings you may have here and there.

The default settings are the ones that the application comes with. If you haven't used it in some time, it will probably tell you there is a newer version. Download and install the latest version and use it without fear. Like azinoh I have used both the clener and registry tool with no problem, always backing up the registry. This is just one step in my routing maintenance before I defrag.

Okay.....I did both updates, and then I ran JavaRa and removed all old versions. But then I went to the Mozilla Plugin Check Page, and saw that it still listed my Java as old and outdated. So I said okay, and I clicked Update--whereupon we went through the installation process again. However, the previous time I selected the 64-bit version because that's what my computer is, and this time I chose the 32-bit version. Now Mozilla says all my plug-ins are current and secure. Of course, I still can't load MSNBC and assorted other sites with Firefox. :-/ Since we've made all these changes, do you think it would help if I uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox?
