15% recommended minimum free space - windows pops a message at 200mb then another stern message when around 50mb free. Most don't need to defrag. Windows has automatic scheduled maintenance that does that about weekly. Anything you've downloaded and installed.. you don't need that program anymore.. it will just get outdated. Should you ever need it,, download it again ? Delete them, unless of course you have some secret coded paid for download, which you should burn to dvd or cd before deleting. No popups, nor sites that pop up telling me I've been infected and click here to remove. and I haven't been to any porn sites, unless you'd call searching for California King bedding on legitimate sites porn. What I am seeing is cursor not responding properly, and sometimes getting a strange mssg. on AVG antispy saying "connect to server" when I'm already connected and trying to run a search. Still under warranty but Best Buy Geek said it would take 7-10 days to diagnose. Yikes! Think I'll buy a new mouse in hopes that will help. I'm a Bills fan, so used to hoping for miracles. Janette as DA said if you just run the cleaner in it's default setting it is ok, but it does have a registry cleaner built into it also and that is what I personally do not like to use. You could simply stay away from that part and not use the registry cleaner aspect. why don't you take a look through the ccleaner beginners guide that might help you. CCleaner Beginner's Guide The Cleaning Process Always good to read up on a program and learn all about it prior to using it, those links should help. Remember also that if you have it delete your cookies then when you go to some sites that had remembered your info that will be gone because you deleted the cookie that kept that info, like log in info to this site. Also if you like to keep your history of the sites you have been too in your browser you may not want to select to have it clear that, same with the auto complete feature.

Lavasoft use to be the flagship off the fleet, but through recent years it has lagged in development and dependability. Spybot is the old veteran. It is still a great secondary application, but as Ken points out it is not recommended anymore as a first line of detection. Revo is as Ken reports. CCleaner has a application uninstall tool which I believe is nothing but a pointer to the application's uninstaller. Stick with Revo as it begins with the on-board uninstaller and then takes over for a deeper more complete uninstall. DA
