My right-click menus have gone transparent

And it's a change I did not make. They have to be rolled over to become visible, and they are still shadowy, at that. What happened, how can I undo this? I looked already under the Nvidia menu, and the regular Windows Appearance settings, nothing seems to cover this effect.

BYW, it also is effecting drop-down menus on Works, IE, Outlook Express, but not Firefox.

Assuming vista. Might right click myComputer and choose properties. On the left menu Advanced system settings. Then the top most button for Performance.

Bunch of settings there for appearance. Hopefully one of those.

Spybot Search & Destroy and AdAware are designed to be run at various times to check the whole computer. Anti virus programs are designed to run full time but these 2 do not do that. They sit idle (using no resources) awaiting your command to scan the computer. I look for updates to them about once a week but only scan every 4 to 6 weeks maybe if I know I have not been to doubtful sites. If I have been surfing for freebies then I will run those programs at the end of that search to remove all the stuff possibly piggybacked in when visiting those sites.

Way to go, RC. I had tried right clicking the blue area but nothing. At your suggestion I began right clicking as I dropped the curser downward. I think it was the second gray section below the blue where a block came up that had "menu" listed. I clicked and there it was. Sure do thank you. I am having the same problem. If I switch to Windows Classic Theme, it doesn't happen, but back in Windows XP Theme, it does. Has anyone figured out how to fix this problem yet? Thanks!

When there is some mysterious appearance or disappearance of some feature I have not been tinkering with I often try a very old mainframe trick -- power everything off for several minutes.

On rare occasions that old trick still actually works.
