Dumb question #2 on greenboard vs drywall

Do I need greenboard instead of drywall behind a toilet (e.g., per building codes) and even if I don't need it, is there any reason why I shouldn't? I've had a leaky toilet, the drywall behind the toilet has water damage, I know it's a bit like locking the barn door after the horse is gone, but I think I'd like to replace it with greenboard.

Same question on wall next to shower (opposite side of toilet, not shown in this pic).
