Thanks for the virtual tour, Hoovb! As I've yet to make it up for that show, that was a real treat! Splendid specimens, terrific pottery ~all nicely showcased. :) Saw some plants I had not heard of before, some new ones I had seen recently & some I've had & lost (reminding me to find replacements)! Thank you for your time & effort to share with us! I appreciate it! =)

>>>So I assume that you still need to have the cable box right? The bad answer is, it depends on your cable service. For example, in the Atlanta area, Comcast used to distribute their channels in "clear QAM". Clear means that the signal is unencrypted, and QAM is the type of signal. Elegato tuners can receive clear QAM, so if your signal is clear QAM then you can hook up your coax cable directly to the Elegato unit, then to your iMac. With this setup, you can use Elegato channel service, change channels using your Mac, and also use your iMac as a DVR. However, Comcast recently switched over to encrypted QAM. This requires either an HD tuner (the big box) or the smaller unit, called a DTA. With a DTA, your coax goes first into the DTA, and from there to the Elegato tuner. With this arrangement, you need to use the cable channel changer, and your Elegato just stays switched to a single channel. Technically you can still use your iMac as a DVR, but not conveniently. Confused yet? Here are some resources: QAM http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/QAM_%28television%29 Elegato on QAM: http://support.elgato.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=8

my machine crashed .. so i was interrupted, but finished... 3 things strike me ... and due to the above.. i could have missed them? 1... no mention of timing ... in my MI.. you better not be doing any such thing in august ... in fact.. its an EARLY spring or early fall process .. the clothing they are all wearing sure shows that.. but the words dont .. just because you buy a plant.. does not mean its time to plant it .. either tag them at a nursery for pick up in the proper season.. or hold them over until the next appropriate season .. very regional though .... 2... they claim nitro fert will get a tree established in 3 months.. pshaw on that ... 2 to 3 years.. for all trees and conifers ... especially based on the size of the plants shown .... 3.... i would NEVER recommend ANY fert .... unless a soil test indicates something is missing from the soil ... the cliche is.. your plants will be stressed. not hungry.. they are not children ... thats the best i will do.. without remuneration .. lol ... one last thought.. for free.. lol ... no instant gratification of buying large.. the larger the plant.. the larger the potential problems... all plants shown were severely root bound.. because the buyer went large .. go smaller.. and odds are .. less problems.. and due to such.. they will outgrow the larger problematic plants in a 3 to 5 year span .... ken

I didn't take notes, as I don't intend to spray, but there is only one that can be used by home consumers. Which can create a problem if everyone sprays it indiscriminately and allows pests to develop a resistance. One of the reasons for the detection kit is to enable more accurate usage of pesticides against the mites that spread RRD. The other interesting thing is that there are areas down South that seem to be free of mites, according to surveys by his students. A slide notes an infection rate of 2 to 4% yearly at a large public garden, with the only control being vigilant monitoring and prompt removal of infected roses. Not only is this on par with the number of roses typically added to gardens each year, but this seems no worse than what some Northern gardens lose to winter kill each year.
