I finally decided I had wasted enough time, and been stressed (even depressed) enough with being out of service computerwise, that I'm just going to go for it.

Sue, after reading your initial post, I was going to tell you about the free installation and first month's free service. Now if you want a pole mount rather than on roof or side of house, there is an extra charge for that. Just hope you have a good installer since that is key to the whole system working properly. Don't sign anything indicating work is finished until you know both download and upload streams are working properly. Most installers are reputable and take pride in their work, but, unfortunately there are a few who aren't. That can make all the difference in the world in your satisfaction.

By the way, will you be on the new satellite, WB1? Be sure to find out your gateway and spotbeam if possible. Hope you like it. I am satisfied, but remember it is a last resort for those of us unable to get other types of services. Much, much better than 28.8 dialup.

I expect to get roof mount...right near the satellite dish for Dish TV...or therabouts as both need to face South I am told.

WB told me if I give them the info for the person who referred me, they would get $50 off their service. You are the one who first wreferred me...back last Aug when the 'local' company could not get me installed without $500 and a pole set beside my house.
If you will get my email addy from the form here, and email me your info, I will give it to them as referring me.

I got your addy, and emailed you earlier privately (non GW).

If it 'went' you should have it. My service is stalling when static comes on the line, so I don't know for sure if my emails are even going out. I try to remember to save a 'copy' to my inbox, and occasionally there is no copy in either the 'in box' or the sent items. Go figure.

Wild Blue was installed Sat June 2nd.

I have a very mixed report report on them, but will be back at the end of 30 days or so, with a complete report.
'There may be issues' that just need resolved with them for it to be as good as I expect and as good as grandms's service with them.

I 'am' optimistic though, and enjoy the speed until something 'happens'.

Just keep in mind that no satellite service is going to be as good as DSL, cable, or even wi-fi. It's just the nature of the beast. LOL!

I've had them for just 10 days now.

It went out at 10AM this morning.
I was on 'hold' with the customer service (repair) number for one hour and gave up...could take the recording and LOUD, RUDE music no longer.
Called the # for having service installed and got an answer after 15 minutes. I told her I wanted to know about getting it taken out due to them not having customer service 24/7. Waiting on hold for one hour with no answer is just NOT customer service 24/7!...IMHO. What does anyone else think?
She handed me off to the 'contract' dept.
They said I would be liable for the $300 of equipment, and 12 months at $49.95.
I told them if I billed them for my time spent on hold at $15 or $20 an hour that they would 'owe' me.
They said they would have someone from their repair dept call me in about 2 hours.
Repair called, (about 2 hours later) and said it was an issue here at my house, and will get it scheduled for a repairman to call me to schedule an on site repair call. SHEESH!
It will probably be 2 days (or more) b4 I have a repairman out here to get it looked at.
Repair calls are only 'free' for the first 90 days...after that it is $75 per visit!!!

In the meantime the phone line is clear, and I'm just happy I kept dial-up as a back-up. With Wild Blue's track record, I doubt if I will ever be secure in canceling my dial-UP.

Them claiming to have customer service 24/7 I feel is a lie. I don't consider waiting on hold for one hour, and still NO answer is any kind of customer service at all. What do you think a judge would say?

I have had service for 10 days, and this is the 3rd major outage...one was a mass outage of theirs, one was a storm and I had to wait until the sky was blue (clear)...SHEESH!

And now this one. That does not take into account all the times I have just lost the signal for no reason, and have had to recycle the modem...10-20 minutes.

Right now I am not a happy customer at all, and I would advise no one to sign any contract with them. They really need to get their act together. They did say they have 100 new employees in training for the repair phones, and that they have been working overtime. That sure doesn't help me though at the moment...faced with crappy service I must pay for for a year.

I found out I am on WB1. I'm really hoping they can get me up and running as good as you are. I'm just feeling pretty pessimistic at this time, after all the hold and runaround time on this...and still looking at a 2 day outage, at the least. "They will give me credit for the outage...big dang deal is all I have to say to that.

Due to the fact that it will be 9 more days b4 they can have a repairman make an on site visit to repair the equipment that went totally out after just 8 days, I canceled the service (?????). What a joke.

This was installed on the 2nd.
I had service (with some outages)from the 2nd thru the 9th.--- 8 DAYS
Outage from the 10th thru the 21st---12 DAYS
Not a very good track record...would you say?

They said I will be liable for the 11 months remaining on my contract (1st month was free).
I told them I will not be paying for service I do not have, and if need be, I will see them in court.

Best of luck battling them ... I too am not happy with the WildBlue. I started off the same as you. Static on the phone line prevented me from staying dialed up. I am now waiting for my contract to expire so I can cancel. It was in the contract that I signed that I was responsible for all the equipment and length of contract if I canceled early. I was previously a subsriber to DirecWay ISP before that ... $75 a month ... yikes! I was hoping Wildblue was going to be better ... no dice. I will be switching to DSL as soon as I can get the company to run it out this far.
