Thanks to you both. A minor update: I peered closely at the vanity and noticed that the baseboards were cut out to accommodate it, so it does make sense to leave the vanity in place rather than gettng into the hassle of matching and patching the missing trim. And I took my Silestone sample over so I could look at it with vanity, tub, and tlles and I really like the look. I see, however, that I could get an American Standard fireclay top for only about $170, which would look nice and clean and might be the most practical option. Hmm... I took a couple more pics of the vanity, which I'll post a little later.

First, I am a DIYer so take this advice for what it is worth. 1- if you do succeed in removing all those tiles and reapply them to that greenboard, in a couple of years they will all fall off again anyway. I had that in a condo we were renting in the city a few years ago and as soon as the smallest bit of water gets through your grout (and it will) that board will rot away quickly, the tiles will pop off one by one, and the entire project will need to be done again. 2- if you call in a professional now, they will not apply to that greenboard either (not if they are reputable anyway) and will charge you for ripping it out and installing cement board. Even if some DIY people would apply tile to green board, the green board has now been compromised by you removing the tile. Green board is only coated drywall. The green coating is a waxy coating that is supposed to keep it water resistant. If you look at it, do you think it is going to be water resistant now? If I were you I would cut or score around where the tile currently is and was and remove the green board and tile. I would go buy cement board and screw it to the studs. It goes up just as easy as drywall, you patch it like drywall, and then you have a nice EVEN (your tile is not going to lay nice on that current surface), clean surface that is waterproof to go ahead and install your new tile on. And you are not going to have to worry about having to re-do it in a few years. I promise the extra time spent will be well worth it down the road. It is up to you whether or not you want to call someone in or not. You should know that it will be more than the professional simply laying tile though, he will be charging you for re-doing the backing also. Best of luck, Kalindi

It looks nice, much better than the basic mirror finish with a polished edge. Just put the same cover on the other side and you have a nice finish. That said if the if they made the mirror wider it would overhand the counter and it would look odd. To avoid that that outlet should have been moved to avoid the cut out and the other one should also be on the side wall to avoid any mirror cut-outs, most builders do that in situations like this.

Neither of those bathrooms are awful…even the colorful paper is okay…you just need to get towels and rugs to match..whichever color you prefer from the print…the little one is fine too …tho’ the mirror looks high?…if so move it down…and just put a gold frame around it….try looking at a picture framing store if you want something pretty..they can make it from measurements..or just use a nice trim moulding..and spray paint it gold..in a tiny bath that wall color-is perfect…just pick a rug that has a nice darker shade of gold in a print ..or stripe …so it wont show soil
