Zep - I have 3 devices in my network list: 1) 1394 net adapter 2)intel 82566mm gigabit network connection (this one I was able to get an updated driver - but on my network connections, it still shows as local area connection - "network cable unplugged,fire..." and I'm not able to click that and get the rest of the sentence. if I click it it just gives me the name of the adapter. 3) intel wireless wifi link 4965AGN The first and third ones say they are connected and firewalled. I believe that this last wireless 4965AGN is the one that has problems and gets repaired. I could be wrong about that. The LAN one I think has always been unconnected/unplugged. I don't know what that's for or if I need it. Is that my wired internet connection? Thanks. Lynn. PS - if I go through network devices and select update drivers, it only offered updated drivers for the intel 82566mm gigabit network connection. Is there any point in googling for updated driver if this route indicate no new drives exist?

Just reading through the manual it sounds like the camcorder can connect with a USB cable. I don't know if Sony's software is compatible with whatever version of Windows you're using now. The other option is there seems to be a output jack that provides composite video but left/right audio. To use that, you'd need some kind of video capture device, which are lesson common than they used to be. Pinnacle and Roxio seem to still offer them.

I was very confused by the original message. If I understand correctly, it's basically a demarcation box outside? If so, the modular jack outside is just for a test hookup, it's not designed for consumer equipment (I think when connected it defeats the other connections) More information is required. A line from the box to the computer??? DSL?? Are you trying to set up dsl, a phone line or what? One thing I do know, it's common practice for digital phones (say the phone over cable comcast/roadrunner type of thing) to 'reverse feed' phone line to existing jacks - they ensure the phone line is disconnected at the conventional demarcation box, then a phone cable/RJ-11 is run from the cable modem to the nearest phone jack - it can be a double adapter - which then 'reverse feeds' the phone line to all other phone jacks connected to it.
