A little maintancnce might help... When we're finished in the shower we squeegee off the walls and dry the hand-held shower, hose and chrome fixtures with a dry microfiber towel. Keeping things dry should help you a lot. The ounce of prevention, pound of cure, kinda' thing. I'd use a mild bleach/water solution (1 qt. water and 1-2 t. bleach) for cleaning mold - spritz it on the hose, or spritz it on a cloth and wipe down the hose to clean it. If you thoroughly dry the hose after each use, you should be able to prevent much of the problem to begin with. It sounds like you must have a very humid environment... If you aren't using your ceiling vent fan during showers, that would help remove moisture; and if it's under-performing, you may want to think of replacing it with one that is capable of removing and venting the moisture. -Grainlady

I can't help with the wall outlet and holder, but I have a similar Hansgrohe hand shower (not the exact same model, but a raindance type) and hose - I've been using them for about a year now and I'm super happy with them!

We have a showerhead that looks very similar to that shown by Debbi. Ours is a Delta. . The center portion is the handheld and both the handheld and exterior portion have adjustable water options, You can choose a gentle flow or a harder “massage type” pulse as well as other options.. The handheld part can not only be detached and used separately without water coming from the rest of the showerhead or water can flow from both portions at once. We love this shower head. I don’t believe we needed a separate diverter. I can check my files.

My thermostatic controls don't work as described by Karen Rose but maybe it's because of my system. I have two valves - One is the three way diverter which selects which shower head or hand held shower water will come out of. I have two hand held showers and a regular shower and in California, you can only have one water fixture operating at the same time so I need the diverter. The second valve controls the temperature but it's the first valve (described above) which both turns water on and selects where it will come out of. I have no control over water pressure but it's not really something I would ever adjust anyway as it comes out at maximum pressure legally permitted. The flow is pretty good - from my reading when I was making decisions, certain fixtures maximize the feel of the lower flow fixtures which are now required by Code in most jurisdictions. The advantage to thermostatic is that your water temperature is set so theoretically you don't ever have to adjust. With the balance pressure you need to adjust temperature every time you turn it on because on/off and temperature are controlled by the same valve.
