I am having the 24 inch deep tall cabinet (existing, to be modified for the new ovens) pulled out 5 inches from the wall to match the 29 inch deep run of cabinets that I am considering having custom made for that wal. That should allow plenty of space behind that cabinet. Which leads me to another question for gizmonike. Does the supply and plumbing run in the back of your cabinets? My potential cabinetmaker said he would make deeper drawers to go with the deeper cabinets, but perhaps I should just use 24 inch cabinets and pull them out to leave a 5 inch space behind for plumbing between the steam oven and the sink? How much depth is needed for the plumbing? I believe that there is probably 2.5 inches between the back of the drawers and the back of the cabinets; is this enough for the plumbing to run inside the cabinets?

I've never used chemicals in mine. I don't like the idea, frankly. Once, I put in a small casserole that bubbled over something fierce! All it took to clean was a wet sponge and patience. The worst was the depression around the drain. The steam assist should loosen anything that's burnt on, and the rest of the cleaning should be fine with mild dish soap and water. I think the stainless steel cleaner suggestion is for if the steel discolors and looks like it's going to corrode.

Unfortunately the cavities are the same size :-) I too, have drooled over them. The unplumbed one (the one with a tank that you refill) is 24", and if you look at their manuals (on their website as mentioned above) the interior oven cavity for all models is the same. Basically they're all the same cavity size but the larger ones are designed to have a bigger facade so that they line up nicely if put it over their regular oven... clever. I couldn't figure out how the pricing scheme worked until I read that... then it all made sense. I'd love one, but I can't talk myself into paying that much. Plus, the only dealer in my area just dropped Gaggenau. There's a GW thread where someone says that Miele does tanks instead of direct plumbed because of tube clogging issues. My city water now leaves a residue, and I'll soon be on well water. I'm worried about talking myself into that expensive of an item and then having issues with water tube blockage (although it would be much nicer than using a tank).

I have the combi and I love it. Mine is definitely not nice looking inside because I use it constantly and it is impossible to keep pristine. I wonder if they will still offer the model without the broiler. I am not sure I would want the broiler--because of the mess. But I love the combi so much that if that was the choice, I would take it.
