I just opened the Angel Food Cake and there was those darn linky lines..

I opted out last week...

beanthere_dunthat's instructions in the linked thread work. At least they did for me. Had them, now gone.

Oh my! I do hope you will be okay...my fingers are crossed. A number of years ago (and I am talking quite SOME time ago!), my Shih Tzu Britanny (yep, we're talking BT as in Before Tifanny!) had a tick. I got a phone call from my groomer who was quite hysterical. "Sherry, just WHERE did you take this precious baby?!" "Huh?" "Britanny had a TICK! I pulled a good chunk of her HAIR off along with it!" "What?! A tick?! I haven't taken her ANYWHERE! Let me call Bill..." ring-a-ding-a-ling "Sweetie? I just got this phone call. Did you take Britanny anywhere for a walk? Someplace unusual?" "We went looking for rabbits." "Rabbits? Where in the heck were you guys looking for rabbits?" "Oh, you know, the Back Bay. Why?" "WELL, I don't know why you were looking for rabbits..." "You know how she likes taking a walk in the Back Bay..." "Yeah, but, RABBITS?" "This bunny hopped by so we thought we'd go check it out." "hmmm...well, I just got a call and am now on my way to go take Brit to the VET'S!!! She got a TICK and I don't even want to tell you just how hysterical the groomer is right now." Needless to say, Britanny was fine. The tick went with me to the veterinarian's, and was promptly identified as a Brown Dog Tick. I still have the tick in a plastic baggy in my freezer. And, as an FYI...Britanny crossed the bridge, oh, over 13 years ago or so... Bill will never live down the tick. Poor guy. ;P So, I do hope, Sandy, that your tick story is as 'easy' as Britanny's (and not Bill's!). CalSherry aka tdogmom

Medo, I saw them on the end rack at Wal*Mart yesterday, I think under $30. I was tempted, but the old Ranger is pretty well loaded and ready to head south now, so I don't dare add more. I used to have one, but gave it to a daughter, now I wish I had it back. They are very safe to use, not like in the past when they used to blow up. And pot roast is awesome in them! As is Swiss steak. Annie looked like a little overstuffed sausage in her new sweater. She's only 9-months old, but very overweight and having some joint problems in a front leg....when she first gets up (anytime she has been laying down, not just mornings) she limps until her leg loosens up, sometimes her right leg just collapses under her and she falls on her face (which breaks Granny's heart). She doesn't each much at all, and the vet has said to cut even that in half for 3 months, after which he'll check her thyroid if she isn't losing. She's also been put on a joint med. Wow...that trip to the vet was mucho $$$, and he didn't do a darned thing! I looked up the medication and it was only $25 on line. Shipping would have brought it to $30. He charged $93 for the visit and the meds! Pretty good pay for a five minute consultation, I'd say. I've used this vet for all the pups shots and neutering, but I think I'm finding a new one in the future. I'd hate to think what it would have cost if he'd done xrays! Good heavens, how on earth did I miss all this discussion? I guess I was busy in the bedroom. I mean, DECORATING the bedroom. Squirrel, thanks for clueing me in on my other post. D'oh!! Annz, you are right, the room with a darker color is just downright dreary. I think I made a quick reference somewhere above to having a disastrous go at it with a darker color (which happened to be blue). It was AWFUL and dark and ... just ... No. No no no no no. This room, like the bedroom I'm trying to finish, has a lower-ish ceiling and is quite shady in the summertime. "Cozy" and dark was depressing, even though it only lasted 12 hours. I just wanted to cry in there. One thing that really complicates the matter is the floor-to-ceiling brick fireplace. Of course, that doesn't go with the yellow-y oak at all. So finding a hue that worked with BOTH the brick and the oak was a chore and a half. BM Carlisle Cream was IT. For whatever reason, it just pulls the two together and now I don't hate them. I think you can see the brick fireplace on one of the pics in the link to "other pics" in my initial post. I just don't know what to think about the crown, but Squirrel, you ROCK!!! Giving me the view of so many options is incredibly helpful. I do like the "taller" base moulding -- absolutely balances better, assuming the crown stays. And the crown is definitely better wrapped, but wow, I'm not sure how we would accomplish that. I think this was all custom made for the previous owner and they told us the carpenter who did it is actually now deceased!! So ... hmm. Tell you what. The contractor is back today to install slate around the base of the brick hearth, and our area rug, which was sent out to the cleaners, should be delivered back to us today. We should be able to put the room back together tomorrow and then I'll post new pics. Maybe that will help! You are all so incredibly generous with your time and ideas. To pot fill or not to pot fill . . . The benefits of a pot filler far outweigh the cons for me. Here's why. Seven years ago I fell and fractured my RIGHT wrist while carrying our 15 month old DGD. I hit a small break in the sidewalk tripped and in trying to break our fall and protect her head, which thankfully I did, I broke my wrist and needed a steel plate put in to remedy the break. Two years ago I AGAIN fell on a rise on a sidewalk. This time watching our DGS ride his two wheeler without training wheels and not watching where I was walking. (I guess it's true you can't teach an old dog new tricks!) The result - a badly broken LEFT wrist. Three days later and just before surgery, I slipped on a throw rug and broke my RIGHT arm. The saga continues . . . Two days after surgery a tornado warning was issued and all patients were moved to a hallway where I was instructed to sit in a particular chair. I did so but unfortunately said chair, had unlocked casters and was in front of an open doorway . . . Yes, indeed, the chair flew through the door and I fell landing on my already broken arm! No wonder my DF jokingly called me "Grace"! Now NOT having to lift and carry any size pot of water to the stove is a plus. Chances are I would spill some water, slip on it and, well, you get the not so pretty picture! I don't worry about leaking pipes we used an excellent plumber, our DSIL, and top notch materials. So while a pot filler might not be for everyone they suit me just fine. Oh, and as for emptying, I don't. Whatever we are cooking is usually served in small bowls and easily managed and what is left is stored the same way. As far as I am concerned our pot filler is a life saver - especially since the life it saves could be my own! Sorry my reply is so long! ~ Nonnyx2

Apparently, Bing is part of Vibrant in-text somehow. There look to be three or four companies offering this "service".
I can't imagine anyone actually likes or uses it, but I guess someone must or it wouldn't be worth their while to offer it.
I think I've figured out how to get rid of Bing/Vibrant on any website -- at least in IE.

In the browser menu, go to Tools
Select Internet Options
Select the Security Tab
Select Restricted Sites
Click on "Sites" button
Enter everything after this colon: *.us.intellitxt.com

I haven't seen any since I did it, so I have my fingers crossed.

For anyone using Opera..

Tools --> Advanced --> Blocked Content from the top menu bar. To block ads from Vibrant (the video ads that pop up when you mouse over a double-underlined word), add http://*.*.intellitxt.com/* to the Blocked Content editing box.

Okay, I cleared out my cookies, which also signed me out of GW. I immediately saw the hot links. They were on random words like Food, Save and Mother. When I hovered over them I saw an ad for baby diapers, which is a big waste for someone my age -- maybe D-epends, but not baby diapers.

Then when I signed in here, the links disappeared.

I opted out and it didn't work. Anyone have instructions for Firefox? I'm not having any luck finding the right spot.

I didn't have any trouble on the Angel Food Cake thread but when I came here there was one of the dreaded links on Terri's word "Cake". I followed BTDT's instructions & the link has disappeared.

I have Firefox and I "opted out" and I'm seeing them too. Not on every thread, but some really strange words - like "oven" and "mother" are double underlined. Go figure.

None of my computers, and I use the evil Internet Explorer, show me the dreaded ads.

DS#2 thinks it might be related to GW 'Seniority'. I've been around since 1999, I think.

I opted out and it's still there. Using Firefox. Downloaded the adblock and it still shows up.

Opted out on IE and dont see it. So I'll be using the IE instead of firefox.

This kind of stuff annoys me. Here we just got thru the posts disappearing and then not being able to do a search and now they do this.

Have any of you ever clocked on a popup ad or this sort of thing? There has to be a reason they think it generates ad income, but I don't know anyone who's ever said, "OH, that looks interesting, I want to look at that link!"

Hmmm..........I'm on aol with dial up (here at home), no linky's!!

Finally! A benefit to dial-up! LOL

I saw them at work, opted out and haven't had them return.
I did notice that if you delete cookies on your computer, they will come back. You may want to check to see how often your cookies are deleted.

Personally, I try to delete mine while they're still warm from the oven but...................unrelated to intellitext!!!

I had it blocked using the link GardenWeb provided at the top of the page but when I ran my usual security scan and restarted my computer, I started seeing those darned intellitext highlights again.

I have a feeling some security programs/anti-virus delete the cookie. I went into tools and added intellitext.com as a blocked site. If that doesn't work I'll go into my Norton program and Ad-Aware, whatever else might apply, and block from there.
