Instant Messenger Question.

Hi everyone,

I have AOL Instant Messenger, have had it for years without it popping up when I start OE. Just recently I updated it and now when I open OE AOL instant messenger pops up for me to sign in. I don't want that. I don't know what changed but I want to keep it from doing that.

I have WindowsXPsp3.

So that you will know in OE I went in and removed the check mark to keep it from starting when I open OE. There is no check mark in there, so it should not be popping up. I also went into Internet Explorer and disabled all of the add ons that had AIM listed and that didn't help. So what do I do now.

I went into the start up area too and the guys changed things in the startup menu and it doesn't look anything like it use to. I am stumped. Is there anything that I can do to stop the sign on box of AOL Instant Messenger from popping up everytime I open OE?

See if this helps,

Click on the IM icon on your taskbar. Click preferences. Under sign on/off, uncheck "start AIM when windows starts". Click apply/ok. Reboot your computer. See if that clears up your problem.

My aim : Edit Options : Edit Preferences : Sign On/Off : Unchecked
"Make aim my default instant messaging programÂ
Click OK

Now when you Start Outlook Express, no longer will Aim also start. Also the next time you start aim it asks "Would you like to make AOL Instant Messenger your default instant messaging program"?Â This may also set AIM as the default instant messaging program in other applications, such as integrated mail/messaging programs" Â Check the box "Do not perform this check in future" and click NO.

That is what I was trying to explain that there is no check mark in "start AIM when windows starts". It is blank.

Yes, that is how it is setup. Even with all this set like it is suppose to be, I am still getting the sign on box popping in when I go into OE.

That is what I was talking about everything is set up to keep it from popping up but, it is doing it anyway and I can't figure out why, it shouldn't be happening.

I do have two versions of AIM but both are set up the same way. I have even removed the welcome part of it and put a dot on none and clicked save, still the sign on box pops in when I open OE. This is why I am confused because it is all set up for it not to open the sign on box but it does it anyway. Hummmmm!

Indicate5 is a pH balancer with some sticker properties. Terry, a "spreader/sticker" is a product that is used to help in applying pesticides. Some fungicides, like Banner Maxx and mancozeb, need to have some agent to help the product stay on the leaves which helps the product to be more effective. Other fungicides include ingredients that serve the purpose of a spreader/sticker. Many people use dish soap as a sticker, but there are products that can be purchased. Eden Bioscience doesn't indicate if a spreader/sticker is needed for Messenger. They were originally very careful about any mixing of other products with Messenger, so I don't think it is needed.

There is not a product that combines both. Hot water are point of use faucets. Basically they are just a mini-hot water heater. We had one and it failed after about 24 months...water in the cabinet and all over the floor. Just about ruined the cabinet floor. After reading about other people experiences, this is a very common occurrence and many people haven had ruined cabinets. What we ended up doing is put a high end filter system on that sink and then added a Ozonator (system that adds 1 extra Oxygen molecule) which sanitizes the water from any parasites. The filter system works on chlorine, heavy metals and particulates; the ozonator works on everything else. We are very happy with it. We are building a house and we won't be using a insta-hot because of the problems in their failing.

It sounds like you still have 2 messages active on a device. Are you using multiple devices to read your messages on? If so, make sure you have closed the messages on all devices. I found that out with my laptop and my phone and tablet. It may be different for you, but I think I had that happen when I still had my iPhone. I know I do with my Moto E4plus, and the other devices.

Anne Duke: If I ever have time to experiment I might try that. Right now I do the easy way:microwave in the potato bag. By then I knew how valuable the PC was for saving time and started paying more attention to how and what to cook in it. Btaylor10: I've never made yogurt, but we do eat lots of it, so that would be a neat feature. Moosemac: I like the idea of using it for broth and I like that so many have replaced appliances with the IP. Thanks for all your responses. It always helps to make a decision about cooking appliances and tools after reading the opinions and experiences of the people on this forum I think I will have to be careful about weight gain if I use it for as many cheesecakes as people on here are enjoying!

Just wanted you to know that I reinstalled Instant messenger and then followed your instructions on taking the check mark out of "Make aim my default instant messaging program and clicked OK and this time it worked. It is now fixed and no longer pops up when I start OE. There must have been a glich of some sort before for it to keep coming on. Reinstalling it and following your directions worked this time.
