Yes, upon reflection, an underccounter oven would not be good for my back. I was thinking that maybe I would only use the second oven for parties and holidays, but sometimes we have friends over every weekend. Good point about the cost of separate ovens. I do like the look of double ovens, too. Especially the Bosch 800 series and the Kenmore Pro, but it is very hard to find anything on them...few mixed reviews online. I will ask on this forum. And do some research on Electrolux as well, since they seem to be popular here. I saw the Wolf cooktop at Great Indoors. My mother has a Wolf range, but she hates to cook. Lol. I am thinking that, since I was planning for stacked 42" + !2" or 36" + 18", I will have to mount the MW under a cabinet...h'mmm...maybe I will have to do a mullion door on a 36" or 42", since the 12" or 18" are supposed to be mullion? It looks.like close to the same amount of space that we have in our KA Superba, which we bought 9 years ago and has never given us a problem. I will look at KA fridges, thank you! I need the MW drawer money for the undercabinet hood. Boo. But the fridge isn't in my appliance budget, anyway. Lol.

Blue Star, American and DCS come in 48 inch and are less costly than AGA. I guess I price a 36 range and separate oven vs a 48. One thing I like about a range is the oven is also under the hood for broiling things like fish. I have the DCS AG 30 inch and rarely need high for anything though I am cooking quantities for only 2. It has 2 size burners, 3/17500 & 2/12500. Blue Star is open burners the other two are sealed. If you do a search on the bottom of the appliance front page I think you will see a lot of happy people with these 3 ranges.

I have a DF range but would definitely go with a range/cook top and separate oven(s). -You can pick the best of each component. You might like the features of one brand cooktop and another brand of oven. -The oven can be placed at optimum ergonomic height. -If the oven fails, you don't have to replace the whole thing. -you might want a 36" or 48" cooktop and only need a 30" oven -you might want a double oven or combi and regular oven

Gas versus induction is a personal choice. I am installing induction but have cooked with both gas and standard electric. In my own experience, unless one has installed a wok burner, the benefits of gas stoves is overrated as my cooking output did not improve when the same dish was cooked on gas versus electric :-). I would definitely opt for a slide in range versus the contrived cooktop with wall oven below because it doesn't increase functionality at all and as cpartist posted, it decreased functionality since the height is generally lower than an integrated stove. Also, there are some models that have two ovens and so the smaller oven - which is probably the one that would be used 99% of the time is highly functional and at an even more comfortable height.
