Well, the first thing I thought was Matthew Broderick is old and his hairline is receding. I loved Ferris Bueller but I missed most of the references. Ferris sure has taken a big step down from Cameron's father's Ferrari to a Honda CRV. I loved the scene when they had the Ferrari in reverse trying to turn back the odometer. Oops.

I loved the ad, all the funny references to the movie, but it would have been perfect to have the same people playing his pals!

I have a couple of Charles and Heidi Douglas daylilies here that I got from them and they do great for me. I'm not sure if any of the ones you choose are their own registrations as I'm too lazy to look any of them up. I can say their dormants here are terrific. No affects from all the weather changes we have here. I would definitely buy from them again. Good luck with getting them planted. Julia

"First year it sleeps, seconds year it creeps, third year it leaps" isn't a fairy tale. I like it. Don't get me wrong. But I have learned that stuff has to be controlled, so plant it in an area you can envision it as a solid carpeting. Then decide how to keep it there. I moved back to my family home a few years back after it sat unlived in for several years. I had no grass. I had ivy. In fact I had ivy up to the roof, that along with Virginia Creeper, which literally encircles the house. It has taken so much effort to just get it contained enough to try and have grass (it's hazardous to trip over the ground vines) and I try now to keep it just under the front windows. I do find myself trying to root every piece that gets ripped up because I just can't bear to lose a pretty plant. They are easy to keep going - find a section already wealthy with roots, try the water jar method or just take a nice piece and lay atop the ground, secure with a pin, water and wait for those ground roots to develop. I have decided the only way to get my conscience off my back when I have one of these big clearings (say for instance when you are seeing mice and snakes at your front windows and doors, is to put the big bundle on some parcel of ground that might be not quite so tended to, and toss them there. Something will grow. It's better than poison ivy!

The house is semi-modular, and the interior partitions are made to be moved. In the US only aspects that would affect the exterior would be of concern to the preservationists. The thing about modernist houses like this is that living there is not really supposed to be about the house, The house is placing you within a Setting and it forms a shelter for you In that setting, but you are supposed to look past the house and experience the setting. It's kind of like why the gallery spaces of museums are for the most part blank. Some modernist houses are also beautiful in their attention to minimalist details, or craftsmanship (like the better Frank Lloyd Wright or van der Rohe or IM Pei works) . I don't think this is one of them, I think it is really kind of ordinary mid century construction with all the attending faults. I don't think this house would be so satisfying if it were on a suburban lot, for example.

Hi Jenny, here's a few things that come to mind. 1) Would have made the Great Room larger. Fine for a small group, but tight when it's 2 kids, spouses and 3 grands. 2) Laundry is very small, should have expanded it. 3) Would have put a beam in so we wouldn't need the load bearing column between Great Room and Kitchen. 4) We added 4' of depth to the Master Closet, could still be larger. 5) We added tub/shower in guest bathroom. 6) Should have included the HVAC in the Bonus Room. 7) Should have floored as much as possible of the attic. 8) We love the covered Back Porch, should have used tin for the roof.

Yeah....my son sent me that link, he owned a CRV a few years back....for a few months before it got totaled in a hail storm!! he replaced it with something different......and mourned.
Great commercial....great idea to do it!

Any fans? Any fans? You kidding? I live in Ferris Bueller's town and have been here since 1977. Now Ferris' big beautiful white house was in another suburb but much of the film was made on our streets, our school exterior, I think and it was our town water tower which was painted with Ferris references. John Hughes attended school here and loved his town. Many Hughes films are done here and about here. The parents of my daughters friends(age 21) were extras in the movies.

Yes, we are Ferris B fans here. The first name of a puppy on my street is "Ferris" and I won't say the last name.

We also love Home Alone, et al., Sixteen Candles
