GE Monogram integrated warming drawer installation issues.
Comments (0)We bought a GE Monogram warming drawer with the kit to install a custom panel to the front so it will match the rest of our kitchen. We did this before we read about how much the GE Monogram units make the integrated panel stick out. Now I'm trying to compensate for this by recessing the area were the unit will mount to bring it back closer to the wall and thus bringing the front panel in flush. To do this though I will have to cut out the back of the cabinet and move the warming drawer to about 1/4" away from my drywall. Has anyone done this or see issues with doing this in regards to heat against the drywall? I've left the unit on for hours to see just how hot it gets when on high. It does get too hot to touch but it doesn't seem like it would be a fire issue. And the heating element is at the bottom of the unit where it's in direct contact with wood anyway. So what do you think? Thanks...See MoreCan warming drawer be integrated with inset cabinets?
Comments (5)I have the Dacor WD mentioned -- it was the only one that would fit in a 21" deep cabinet in my island. I would encourage you to go that route rather than to put the WD under your ovens. Most folks who have them under ovens say they don't use them. The best location for them is between your cooking area and the table where you will be eating most and at a comfotable height for setting food into them, taking it out, or even serving from without removing the food....See MoreDoes anyone have the Miele paneled warming drawer - ESW 6380 FB?
Comments (11)schicksal, thanks for your help. You're right, our KD checked with her installers (different from the installer we're using) and they confirmed that the drawer front is supposed to have a routed space on the back of the panel, and that's what the metal lip fits into. Our KD missed that it's supposed to have a routed space and thus didn't specify that to the cabinet maker, and looking over the Miele specifications, I can't really blame her. The dotted line above is supposed to be the routed passage. That's rather vague, and I'm not sure how one would know that without having dealt with such a drawer before. Miele should really make that clearer. xedos, I'm not sure why you're assuming that we're working with inexperienced, scatter brained imbeciles. The cabinet was designed and fabricated correctly. The drawer panel is exactly the correct size as specified by Miele, minus the routed passage as I just explained. You are correct in that the metal backer is installed onto the drawer front in the wrong spot, but given the installation instructions provided by Miele, and the fact that the drawer wasn't routed, there's no other way the installer could have installed the drawer front. Thus he realized the problem, contacted our KD, she contacted her installers, and now it's resolved. While I would love for everyone to be perfect and never make mistakes, and would certainly love to be perfect myself, I understand that mistakes happen. It's how people and companies deal with and resolve those mistakes that differentiates the good from the bad....See MoreIKEA drawer front and integrated appliance
Comments (3)I used IKEA drawer fronts on an integrated dishwasher (bought the dishwasher before the remodel so needed SOMEthing on it). We were lucky on size and they were pretty close. (It was a dishwasher drawer so we used two large drawer fronts.) I believe some IKEA doors are more easily trimmed than others. Check the door/drawer front sizes available and see how close you can get. Except for size issues, you should not have problems....See MoreUser
